Dale Hunter and Pierre Turgeon going in together would make for an amusing ceremony.

I'm going to predict that none of those predictions will actually play out, but appreciate the effort. I think prediction #10 might be the most plausible and would cause the least amount of outrage. Prediction #8...batten down the hatches if that one comes true.

I can't believe I forgot Theo Fleury. He's not on my list yet. Actually, since Bryan Murray also coached the Ottawa Senators and took them to the Stanley Cup Final in 2007, here are a few more 2018 Hockey Hall of Fame induction scenarios:

PREDICTION # 13 - Honoring Bryan Murray with Alfredsson and Bondra

01. Martin Brodeur
02. Peter Bondra
03. Daniel Alfredsson
04. Keith Tkachuk
05. Bryan Murray
06. Willie O'Ree

PREDICTION # 14 - Honoring Bryan Murray with Hunter and Alfredsson

01. Martin Brodeur
02. Dale Hunter
03. Daniel Alfredsson
04. Keith Tkachuk
05. Bryan Murray
06. Willie O'Ree

PREDICTION # 15 - Honoring Bryan Murray with Hunter, Bondra and Alfredsson

01. Martin Brodeur
02. Dale Hunter
03. Peter Bondra
04. Daniel Alfredsson
05. Bryan Murray
06. Willie O'Ree

PREDICTION # 16

01. Martin Brodeur
02. Theo Fleury
03. Daniel Alfredsson
04. Peter Bondra
05. Bryan Murray
06. Willie O'Ree

Do you really think Dale Hunter has even the remotest of chances? Even Verbeek, as ridiculous as his induction would be, has a Cup and 500 goals to attract the committee's attention.

Interesting realization. There seems to be a suggestion of benchmarks for retired NHLers - 500 plus goals, SC winning goalies, etc but no benchmarks for female or International players.

Actually, the passing of Bryan Murray would also get 2018 HHOF voters thinking back to the classic 80s meetings between the Islanders and Capitals, Islanders and Oilers, and voting to induct one player from each team from that era, along with Brodeur. Plus, they wouldn't want Pierre Turgeon to be in the same room with Dale Hunter, Peter Bondra, or even Terry Murray who will most likely be there with the rest of Bryan Murray's family to accept on his behalf.

PREDICTION # 17

01. Martin Brodeur
02. Kevin Lowe
03. Brent Sutter
04. Dale Hunter
05. Bryan Murray
06. Willie O'Ree

PREDICTION # 18

Pat Quinn coached the Philadelphia Flyers from 1978-1982.
Eric Lindros played for the Philadelphia Flyers from 1992-2000.
Pat Quinn coached Team Canada at the 2002 Winter Olympics and Eric Lindros was on the team. Won GOLD.
Pat Quinn dies in 2014. Pat Quinn and Eric Lindros are both inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2016.
Rogie Vachon and Sergei Makarov played in different eras from Eric Lindros.

2016
Eric Lindros
Sergei Makarov
Rogie Vachon
Pat Quinn

Martin Brodeur will be inducted in 2018, and once again the Hockey Hall Of Fame voting committee will play the "peerless" game with its inductees.

PEERLESS SCENARIO # 1:
Martin Brodeur being inducted with players of a somewhat lower calibre from the same era.

01. Martin Brodeur
02. Dale Hunter
03. Peter Bondra
04. Daniel Alfredsson
05. Bryan Murray
06. Willie O'Ree

Bryan Murray is #12 all-time in wins (620) by an NHL Head Coach. He won the Jack Adams Trophy for NHL Coach of the Year during the 1983-1984 season with the Washington Capitals. Hall of Famer, Mike Gartner, who played for Bryan Murray in Washington, is on the HHOF committee. Mike Gartner will push for Bryan Murray's induction in the Builders category. Mike Gartner will also push for committee members to vote for his former teammate in Washington, Dale Hunter, who is the most qualified Washington Capitals player left for induction and also played for Bryan Murray. Dale Hunter was a scorer and an enforcer, with 1407 games played, 323 goals, 697 assists, 1020 points, and 3565 penalty minutes. Dale Hunter took the Washington Capitals to the Stanley Cup Final in 1998. Bryan Murray also coached the Ottawa Senators and took them to the Stanley Cup Final in 2007. Daniel Alfredsson is the most qualified player from that Ottawa Senators team who could be inducted the same year as Bryan Murray. Peter Bondra is a 500+ goal scorer who played for both, the Washington Capitals and the Ottawa Senators, and could be inducted the same year as Bryan Murray as well.

PEERLESS SCENARIO # 2: Slight change. Replacing Dale Hunter with Olaf Kolzig.

01. Martin Brodeur
02. Olaf Kolzig
03. Peter Bondra
04. Daniel Alfredsson
05. Bryan Murray
06. Willie O'Ree

PEERLESS SCENARIO # 3: All Goaltenders in honour!! Martin Brodeur plus 3 goaltenders from a different era!

01. Martin Brodeur
02. John Ross Roach
03. Lorne Chabot
04. Dave Kerr
05. Bryan Murray
06. Willie O'Ree

All Stanley Cup winning goaltenders with 50+ shutouts, 250+ wins. The only goalies left from the 1920s-30s-40s listed on the HHOF websites candidates page.

Hockey Hall of Fame - Induction Showcase - 2018 Induction Eligibility

John Ross Roach - 58 Shutouts - 1 Stanley Cup - DEAD
Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- John Ross Roach

Lorne Chabot - 71 Shutouts - 2 Stanley Cups - DEAD
Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Lorne Chabot

Dave Kerr - 51 Shutouts - 1 Stanley Cup - DEAD
Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Dave Kerr

Years in the NHL

1921-1935: John Ross Roach (Toronto, New York, Detroit)
1926-1937: Lorne Chabot (New York, Toronto, Montreal, Chicago)
1930-1941: Dave Kerr (Montreal, New York)

I could argue about John Ross Roach. Problem is that we don´t have a very good trophy voting data from early /mid 20´s. So we tend to lump those years as Benedict(/Vezina) Era. I took a deep dive on those season some years ago and Roach was much more highly seen back then. I could argue about few possible 1st team All-Stars if there would have been one. Seen some made by reporters fans were Roach was their selection.

Rangers years were slight disapointment in big picture. And the end wasn´t good. When he bounced back in Detroit I have seen a claimed Lester Patrick quote "I guess he figured out that milk diet was better after all". So we have that "fall out of favour of important people" card too. Though still pure speculation.

I think he is very well on that Alec Connell level of that era. Maybe even better.

Doing my research for the ATD on Lehman and Holmes, he is well regarded. But in the 20s he was maybe the 4th or 5th best goalie.

You're right of the names thrown around in this thread he has a pretty solid case but I think his time has passed sadly

If you're listing the number of 80-games played seasons in your highlights for induction consideration, the number had better be significantly higher than 8.

You *are* advocating for Hunter for the HHOF?

It's 12 80-game seasons when you add the 82 and 84 seasons to it. FIXED!
