I have an Idea about the entry draft. Instead of doing our own, which would take a couple of months, we use the real draft. As for picks that have been traded in this game, you receive the player that was picked at the spot you own. Confused?
Example:
I, Chicago has traded my 1st #3 to Phoenix for their 1st #5.
Say Chicago takes Tukonen at #3 and PHO takes Olesz at #5.
Olesz now belongs to CHI, and Tukonen to PHO.
What do you guys think?
I will even volunteer to get all the selections straightened out after the draft.

That would be kinda cool, save unknowledgeable people such as myself any embarassment of having to pick through nine rounds...

I like the idea, but who knows what everyone else thinks. I'll do a poll.

I'd be all for taking the real results of the draft for our teams AFTER the first round. I, as Florida, Have an eye on Montoya or Schwartz, since I traded Luongo. It'll suck for me if Keenan makes a reach and drafts Wes O'Neil or someone.

People, I ask that you inform me of the players who you have re-signed who are in the list, otherwise, they'll be up for grabs June 20th. Thanks in advance.

Please also let me know what picks you have both traded and acquired so I can start to put together a draft list.

COL traded a 4th rounder to me (PIT) and they don't own one...

this kinda peeves me off, cuz I make sure I only deal what I own (players, prospects & picks) and I expect the same from all of the other GM's.

now, the question is - how to make up this pick???

I have the answer - since COL doesn't have a 4th, PIT will be awarded the next lowest pick they own (in this case COL's 3rd rounder 72nd overall)

so for now on maybe GM's will be looking over exactly what they are dealing and not just picking a round # off the top of there heads...

*this of course needs league approval - and is just my suggestion of how to deal with this now and in if it happens again in the future*

if something like this happens again now or in future deals, I suggest that we use the same method - the team that trades a pick they don't own will have to forfeit the next lowest pick they do own

Yeah, good point, I somehow doubt you're the only one. I myself was dealt a sixth round pick that the other team didn't have, but I opted just to let it go. I know that there's a big difference between a fourth and a sixth round pick, so I won't tell you to just let it go. Obviously something has to be done. You need to get some sort of a draft pick, be it this year's third, a fifth or a fourth in next year's draft, and I suggest that you negotiate that with Colorado's GM.

And from now on, people should be making deals with draft picks they actually have rather than picks they don't have. Both sides should be sure that the pick they are exchanging actually exists.

That's the best I can do, you really have to resolve this with the Colorado GM yourself. I don't think it's really fair if I just step in and award you some pick of Colorado's. You guys have to come to an agreement.

I meant to give rinkrat ANA's 4th rounder because I aquired it earlier on in the Sauer Clark deal

ANA doesn't own a 4th rounder either...

in a PM you sent me you stated that if there is no ANA 4th pick available that I will get COL's 3rd, since ANA has no 4th I'm taking COL's 3rd (72nd overall) pick.

Buffalo announces one player to be released

Due to contract problems, the Buffalo Sabres will allow Tim Connolly to attain UFA status. We were unable to reach a contract with him, so we are allowing him to become a UFA on June 20, 2004.

Again I repeat that not all your RFAs have to be signed by June 20th, 2004, just your UFAs, so if you want to keep Connolly, then by all means do so. He has been qualified, so he won't become a free agent unless you really want to release him.

Umm, I'm pretty sure I got the 50th overall pick, in a deal for Bret Hedican. When did you make the deal to get the 50th pick?

52nd/63rd overall (acquired from San Jose; trade specified the 58th overall pick, not sure if we meant the higher or lower pick)

It is the 63rd overall, since the deal was made for San Jose's 2nd round pick as opposed to the compensatory pick for Selanne.
