Can anyone explain to me why some people use spaces before punctuation ? I’ve seen it from a number of people and they all seem to do it religiously as if that’s how they were taught . I can’t imagine that’s how they would teach it in school ... makes no sense to me !

That shit pisses me off to no end! I hope people stop doing that.

I really wish people new to their jobs put emphasis on delivering solid work. You're new, you can't afford to provide not only an unpolished, poorly designed solution on top of a solution demonstrating how little you know due to inexperience. If I'm going to be mentoring you how to do something properly, don't make me also spend what little time I have re-formating your documents and spellchecking your deliverables. It's lazy and annoying and makes you get less value out of working with me.

Marathon night tonight re-doing 21 test cases for a customer because this kid used Google Docs instead of our Word templates and broke every single file. And forgot spellcheck even was a thing.

Isn't that how you are taught in French at least?

Maybe I'm an A-hole, but can someone explain to my how the Golden Knights "Broons lineup" tweets were sexist?

Because they're all women's names, Wooster.

Sorry for the wall of text

Hi, I'm the Stars fan from the GDT the other day. Apparently, HF mods decided to keep me alive to let others know what happened & was going to reply with the story on what happened to HFStars, but the thread was (understandably) locked. So here goes (they're always watching, so this'll probably get deleted soon):

Benn and Seguin were doing an interview on a notably goofy radio station here in DFW and they were doing a bit of a rapid-fire segment. Something (i can't exactly remember) brought up the Sedins, and the two Stars said they were kinda weird. One of the hosts asked if they sleep in the same bed on the road and Benn said "man, I don't know what they do *awkward chuckle*".

Obviously, and they apologized for it, they could have handled the question better, but TSN, Deadspin, etc made a HUGE deal about the interview & it made it's way onto HF.

Vancouver was in the midst of a terrible season, and their fans were understandably upset, but they started going on to the main boards calling Benn and Seguin & Texans in general awful people, homophobes, etc. Stars fans were also in the boards saying, "hey, look maybe this isn't as big of a deal as you're saying. It was a joke, etc. It was a bad comment but jeez, take it easy" but they were having none of it, continuing the attacks and crap. However, HF global mods (a ton of them are Canucks fans) started deleting posts they disagreed with and infracting Stars fans for "flaming and antagonizing mods" when we were just discussing the issue and they left all of the Canucks fans posts up that were actual flaming posts.

Naturally, we went back to HFStars and discussed what was going on with our mods and started complaining that we were being treated unfairly (while still acknowledging that it's a flipping hockey website).

Our mods approached the global mods to get the banned members back and talk to them about the issue but the global mods swiftly removed all of the mods from power, and then went through our previous posts completely unrelated to the Benn-Seguin thing and started infracting and banning people for anything they could find as an "HF Violation". The stuff they were kicking us for was laughable, literally every board on the site has what they were banning us for. Over half of the regular users were banned or suspended, including all but one of our mods.

The worst part is that the mods kept feeding us the same "Please voice your complaints to this website", but they're the same ones that handle those complaints - so nothing was going to happen.

We had a tech-savvy guy that volunteered to put a board together so we could all talk hockey together still, and got a pretty good chunk of the board on there. It died down a bit, but there's still way more Stars talk on there than there is on HF. It sucks, becuase we had a really active board before, but HF ruined it.

Eh.. I mean it was a quote from the movie Ted, with Mark Wahlberg, who's from Boston, and they were playing Boston. I really don't see the big issue, people just looking to get upset over something.

@oconnor9sean, Yeah that's pretty f***ed up. First the whole Bertuzzi incident, now this. That whole organization really is the worst! Feel free to hang around and post here, like I said before we should actually all do the next Avs/Stars GDT together.

Wow that's f***ed up. How can they get away with literally ruining a teams forum, because they're a little salty about some interview? Absolutely insane.

I'm guessing it's because they were salty about their team's season/future. I dunno, it was weird.

The current mod of the Stars board is a young kid that sided with the global mods in hope that he'd become a mod, and it worked. But we blackballed him from the other site when he crossed the proverbial Pickett line.

The worst part is that one of the longtime mods had been working on and updating a complete "History of the Dallas Stars" thread over the course of YEARS with almost every piece of Stars data you could think of, and the admins banned him and deleted his thread in the blink of an eye because he had the chutzpah to say, "hey maybe y'all are overreacting to this".

He was already a mod before that happened.

(NB: tv I kept this separate so my other post stands alone contributing to the regular, acceptable discussion)

That's ridiculous. Anyone that calls themselves a mod/admin that goes back through post histories to remove someone should re-think things. This is an online forum for discussion, if you go back to your team's board to discuss and you're not harming anyone else, that's totally fair game. At any point in the season I could go to numerous team's boards and read their thoughts on how awful Avs fans, Avs posters or individual people are. That's their choice to post on their forum that, as long as it isn't harassment then so be it. Don't go to that board and get yourself worked up. The global board is a different venue, you need to be more careful. I won't pretend to have seen what was an infraction or partiality at the time by a mod, but they're people in the end and prone to preferences so it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

At least Avs have an official (if not crappy) board to return to. I wonder how Crave would feel abotu their mods nuking an entire fanbase from HFB and the ensuing revenue loss.

Also - and I make no comment on HFBoards' editorial stands or the shift in those from 2002 to now - I remember seeing stuff that used to be posted on the Stars board. A guy posted revenge porn once!

@oconnor9sean,
Like I said in my post, there are lot of good mods here even if your guys' situation is definitely mess up. Without naming names on who the mods are, I hope they got their power revoked and banned, but at least their loss of power at minimum.

Oh for sure. tons of great ones, just not those guys. But a lot of them are in cahoots with each other so it doesnt matter. Also.... COYS.

They werent even looking for posts about them. Someone got their 2nd infraction when a global admin went through a month old GDT and found them posting "damn, blackhawks fans on HF are the absolute worst. Can't stand them." and got a "flaming" infraction.

I won tickets at the last minute yesterday, to see the Butcher Babies. Hollywood Undead headlined the (outdoor) show.

Hollywood Undead -- I'd describe them a s a hip-hop boy-band. Can't say I like hip-hop or boy-bands, so I can't rate them too high. I guess they were okay at what they do, though. Most of the music was recorded, and they weren't playing it live -- some, but not much. I give them a 5/10

Butcher Babies -- now that was a show worth seeing. High energy, full volume, kick ass chicks rocking it! Not sure they fit right with the show, though, as it was more a hip-hop crowd. I'd give them a 7.75/10
