NHL will adjust the rules to better last place's chance at first overall. Avs proceed to finish last place but defy all odds and draft 7th overall.

Going to be an interesting draft year. Dahlin and Svechnikov are the clear tier 1 right now and should be a good battle. Then tier 2 is massive right now but I'd give the edge to Tkachuk, Smith, Veleno and Merkley.

One off the radar guy I really like is Chase Wouters. Him and Dach had great chemistry late in the year when Dach was called up.

I'm expecting a bottom 3-5 finish and picking 4th again. Tkachuk or Smith would be my hopes at that pick as of now but a loooong season ahead will change things

1st OA*.........we will be last but not rancid last like this year

*a MD trade for Murray or Maatta changes our pick to #10 OA so lets hope we don't see a trade with either of those teams

Voted 2nd OA, pre-lotto. It's going to suck when we lose the lottery again, only this time miss out on a player worth tanking for.

Lots of really intriguing LD prospects at the top of this class. I'm excited to see how their seasons shake out, not all of them can go top 5.

This should be an exciting draft year for the Avs. Lots and lots of good players available, even if the drop to 4 happens. I think the strength of the NA class is overshadowing Europe a bit right now... there are some good Euros to go along with this NA class. This would be a great year to get a 2nd first round pick.

My wild prediction:
Avs will finish in the 6-9 spot and will be moved down one spot due to the lottery.

I'm guessing between 6-9. Parkkila has Varly playing like a top10 goalie, but we still struggle to score, though not as bad, and the D remains a weakness.

Players who are rising are Burzan, Smith, and Roman. Players falling for me are Lundestrom and McIsaac. I am particularly not liking Lundestrom's game, very soft and not enough IQ from what I've seen. My favourite player in this draft as many of you already know is Quinton Hughes. Miller is the biggest wildcard, if he's able to show more talent then he can easily make his way into the top 10-13 players.

Avs will finish last again, the youth movement will be a struggle to improve enough to overtake the next worst team by the 21 points (based on 2017). Still believe they will lose the draft again and pick 4th...so better prepare the choices at that spot as Dahlin and Svechnikov will likely be the top selections.

Kupari was by far the best player on day 1 that I saw. His sauce on Aaltonen's goal! :amazed:

I'm actually kind of surprised more people didn't puck 1st lol. I went with 3rd, because that's our luck just outside those top two franchise changers.

Pre lottery I think we end up at #3. We'll be better than Vegas, and the bottom falls out in Detroit this season as well.

Post lottery? I dunno, I'm not gonna sit here and pretend I can predict the future. Logic would suggest we pick #3 or #4 though.

We won't be this bad again next year. Bottom five almost certainly, but worst by a mile again isn't in the cards.

I can't see LV finishing lower than the AVs and might surprise. They have a much better defense and the Pacific division is easier, although, greatly improving. The only teams that might tank would be NJD and Van, I believe AZ will be the most improved as they need to get some fans to show hope for OEL if he decides to resign.

Vegas have worse everything than us except coaching and possibly goaltending. As for Arizona you're right, I didn't take the coaching change and the arrival of Stepan in consideration so they might be better than us after all.

Vegas will be a worse team than the Avs, just a matter of if they end up with a worse record. To me, it matters more if Bednar is fired midseason or not. If Bednar is canned, I could see a lot more improvement. If Bednar is around all season ~60 is probably the outlook. I could see Vegas around there.

I feel like Arizona is going to have a youth driven miracle year one of these years. There will be a couple tankers though. I'm just going to focus top 10, it's probably a fair range.
