Alexander Khovanov could be an interesting option. According to those smarter than me he was supposed to be a top 5 pick but he got hepatitis and will miss most of the year. Since it's a deep draft he might get lost in the shuffle and we could take him. Risky though missing a year could hurt his development.

Fun Fact: Serron Noel and Darnell Nurse's dads played together in the CFL.

Might have to unite the kids in the NHL.

Noel is a 6'5'' right-shooting RWer. Has 10 goals and 4 assists through 11 games so far.

Too many good puck movers this year to not grab one in the first round. Really high on Vallati and Jack York in Kitchener, Vallati is probably available in the second/ third and York in the 6th or 7th.

I wish there was more coverage for the USNTDP.

Oliver Wahlstorm looks really good on paper. 6'1'' right-shooting center. He has 11 goals in 12 games for the U18 team right now.

Looking at their roster makes me feel old.

Doug Weight and Brian Rolston each have a son on the team.

Well, at least it'd be a fairly good year to have a top10 pick if it comes to that. Lots of good players available there. Boqvist, Smith, Farabee, Wahlstrom, Hughes, Kupari, Kotkaniemi, Zadina...I'd be happy with any of those guys. Alternatively it'd be funny if we grabbed Brady Tkachuk.

The top 4 guys are
Dahlin - Almost guaranteed #1 D
Svechnikov - High skilled right winger
Zadina - Shifty right winger with a good shot
Boqvist - A defensemen that gets constant comparisons to Erik Karlsson

Man, we drafted wingers for years, and now we sorely need them again lol.

I'd go with a dman. Harder to acquire via trade whereas wingers are a lot less valuable and relatively easy to pick up (unless if you're Chiarelli)

I just have this feeling that whichever teams get Dahlin and Svechnikov will wind up being teams who were supposed to draft in from picks 8-14 and then we'll see the draft lottery change.

Well if we're in the market for another German who played youth hockey in Köln then this guy is pretty interesting:

Just scored his first goal in SHL yesterday. Right-handed forward, really explosive skater and skilled offensively. Probably looking at a late 1st, early 2nd round pick right now but could rise if he continues to trend upward. Someone to keep an eye on.

Time to fire up the tank...?

Here are two guys I really like with a top10 pick:

Elite offensive RHD. Closest player style-wise to Erik Karlsson yet.

Incredibly skilled right-handed center. Smart, great hands, can score in a multitude of ways.

Also really like Ty Smith. Very smooth and high IQ defenseman who can play in any situation.

With a top15 pick I'd go with finnish Jesperi Kotkaniemi. He shares similiarties with players like Rantanen and Draisaitl. Just a high IQ player in a big body who is also very skilled and protects the puck well.

Would love some input from other guys, I know we have a number of draft nerds in here :)

Well I've spent the last 30 minutes looking at the top-5 prospects in the 2018. Ugh, I really, really thought I was done looking at draft prospects in the fall, but here we are. That being said, the top 5 all look really good. If we have to suck, this might not be a bad year to do so.

Obviously, I still think Chia should be fired (the sooner the better), but maybe one more year of a rebuild isn't the end of the world.

If we miss out on Dahlin, hope we grab Sean Durzi in the second round. Kid is putting up stupid numbers

Most important thing is to fire all the scouts that have failed for a decade and get some talent in place.
