Markov....get a clue!! Belle will be there and Weber is not a sure thing, but it should be him, Burns and Barker. If Burns is not released by Minnesota or plays forward, then Mike Green will be the guy. If there is an injury then there won't be a numbers problem.

Also, Bernier and Chipchura do not make this team, bottom line!

He might be there but If Sutter does what he says he'll do and pick the best team possible, then imo theres a good chance that he doesn't make the team. Belle really only has a few attributes 1 is his speed and 2 is his physicality. From what ive seen of him, he has very little hockey sense and creativity. He was by far Canada's worst defender last year and I would gladly replace him with Mike Green. Green does everything exceptionaly well, excellent passer, very calm and composed with the puck, looks great maniing the pp, makes smart decisions with the puck, exceptional speed(not belle speed though)looks very strong in his own end. I would imagine that for a 6th/7th dman Green is a better choice then Belle

Colliton is a pretty safe bet IMO. Similar type of player to Chipchura from what I've seen of him but he's further along in his development. I think he's a lock. VERY impressive in the summer camp. His line dominated in several of the games I saw. Very impressed by what I've seen of him in Prince Albert games I've seen as well.

Dixon is the most likely to be dropped IMO. Saw Dixon in the summer camp and he didn't overwhelm me. With a deeper team this year I think he might be in tough.

Belle looked pretty good to me in the summer camp. He's very strong, very fast. Slim chance he doesn't make it but I tend to think he'll be there.

I'd have to agree with you on this as well. Especially after the performance of the Colliton Getzlaf Ladd line last night, they were dominant.

Zajac doesn't get a sniff......? 9 goals in 16 games is pretty impressive in college hockey.
I never even thought of him, but since this thread was titled "considering Can/Russia series", I would have rejected mentioning him, as I did with Picard. I've never seen Zajac play, had no real clue what he was doing so far in the NCAA, true, but if he's up to that level, he's welcome to join the party, presumably in one of the holes in the 2nd or 3rd line. Given the types of roles open there, and the types of players already in the running, wow, Zajac would have to be really great to make it. Maybe he is. But with a reduced camp roster, will Sutter even look at the NCAA? :dunno: I'm open to Zajac, but he's in a blind spot for me, I admit.

The way I'm looking at it now, if Ladd is doubtful IMO, then I wonder how Zajac could be in the running. :dunno:

You heard it first here:

Stefan Meyer will make the team as an extra forward IMO is my bold prediction.
It's not that bold he's a good player and a definite Sutter type. If Sutter wants a little more "pop" and tenacity on his forecheck there's not too many better choices than Stefan Meyer.

I don't see any way that Colliton makes this team. The guy has got size but that is about all he has. He also made the team last year which is why many people are predicting he will make the team this year. The way I see it is there is one spot for either Stone, Colliton or Chipchura. I believe Chip is out of this race merely because the other two are a year older. That being said, Stone and Colliton are similar players. Both guys play hard nosed two way games, both are big, strong players, but I think Stone has a distinct advantage over Colliton for a few reasons.

1) Stone can play in all situations. PP, PK and even strength. 8 of his 16 goals have come on the power play this season as well as 15 assists, he and Fehr (15 pp goals) could be part of a deadly second PP unit. From watching Stone the reason why he is so great on the power play is because he never panics and always makes the smart pass.

2) Stone is great on the PK, willing to block shots, take a hit to make the play, and again never panics with the puck and always makes the smart play. Stone also has 3 short handed goals this season.

3)Finally, many people have been saying Fehr will be on this team. It is my belief that if Fehr makes the team, Stone will as well. Stone may not be the sniper Fehr is but he is the set up man, as evidenced by Stone assisting on and initiating both of Fehr's goals last night (by the way that line, with Dawes, looked terrific last night). Stone also covers up many of Fehr's mistakes and IMO is the best defensive player in the WHL this year.

There is my opinion. I know its gonna be airtight this year but I'm predicting both Stone and Fehr make the team this year. Although if they don't there is more than capable players to replace them like Bernier, Picard, Pouliot, MaCarthur, Meyer, Perry etc. etc. etc..

Whatda think? :dunno:

Brule will not be on this team, unless he scores 5 goals tonight!

How come no Barker?

Dubnyk will not be there, he isn't even in the WHL/Russia series. :yo:

LW - C - RW

Bergeron - Crosby* - Horton (could be a legit NHL line)
Dawes* - Richards* - Stewart* (great chemistry)
Picard - Carter* - Fehr (Are all big and crash the net. Wear down opposing d-men)
Colliton* - Getzlaf* - Bernier (Experience, size, grit and solid defensive play)
XTRA: Perry the PP specialist. Also, top line RW if Horton can't come.

LD - RD

Phaneuf* - Weber (Heads up! Hardest hitting duo in the Tourney)
Barker - Seabrooke* (Size, toughness, puck skill, etc etc etc good line)
Coburn* - Burns* (See above)
XTRA: Green (Very complete player)

G

Nastiuk
Dubnyk or...

*returning players (11)

This lineup seems to fit very nicely. All the player positions work out and all four lines have balance. I had to make some very hard choices though.

There's my finals guess for the lines:

Forwards

Patrice Bergeron - Sidney Crosby - Eric Fehr
Ryan Getzlaf - Jeff Carter - Nathan Horton
Nigel Dawes - Mike Richards - Anthony Stewart
Kyle Chipchura - Jeremy Colliton - Stephen Dixon
extra: Steve Bernier

Defensemen

Dion Phaneuf - Shea Weber
Brent Burns - Brent Seabrook
Braydon Coburn - Cameron Barker
extra: Mike Green

Goaltenders

Kevin Nastiuk
Devan Dubnyk

Getzlaf would have to play LW, but I guess in junior you can pretty much same the position easily.

I was very impressed with the Getzlaf line once again. At times they absolutely dominated and while not recording any goals, I feel they were the best line on the ice tonight. They are all so smart with the puck, and they just battle out there. Dont be surprised to possibly see this line at the World Juniors.

I disagree. I think that people are shooting down the Q based on their performances against a stronger Russian team than either the OHL or WHL faced, and not considering that, in my opinion, the selections done for the Q team were awful and did not reflect the best players in the league.

I have a few questions...

First, what the heck is Dixon doing on your line-ups? I would take Pouliot, Bourret, Bernier and Picard MILES ahead of this guy.

Where is Gilbert Brulé????? Come on, this guy is pure dynamite. He might be only 5 foot 11 (BTW its 5'11 of pure TNT) but he's prolly the second most talented kid after Crosby. He can hit, play defense, score goals, set up the plays. By the way, if ever the team with the second overall pick doesn't draft him, they're shooting themself in the feet, with a shotgun.

Colliton ahead of Chipchura? From what I've seen Chipchura is a little bit better, shouldn't he take his spot. After all, he is better.

IMO, Bourret, Brulé and Perry should definately be on this team.

I would love to see Brule make the team, but after seeing how much (or little in his case) ice time he got in the game last night, I don't even think he will be invited to camp. It's too bad, because the guy is good. Oh well, next year in Vancouver he'll be there for sure.
