Bolland

Bolland will be one of the leaders on the team this year, he was the last cup last year, plus with the expeiance in the Memorial Cup he should be a leader along with Barker & Crosby.

Someone had said that Barker and Crosby would be in the AHL next year, that will not happen as you have to be 20 before you can play in the AHL.

It won't matter, he will be in the NHL. Crosby won't be on the Canadian team this year, we have to realize that.

Trust me Crosby's agents will get around that rule if he doesn't sign with a team in Europe. They will sue the Q saying Crosby is 18 and can have a choice on where he can play.

Will not be as good without Crosby because A) He was the best player for Canada at the previous WJC B) He is the best junior aged player in the world?

Team Canada could have easily won without Crosby, too much stock is put on #87.

With a weighed draft Crosby has an a slim chance to be drafted by a Canadian team, a US team releasing a Canadian player so that he can play against the US junior team does not make sense.

Canada’s junior talent pool is not so shallow that one player can make or break them at the international level. If it is then dead-last is where Canada should finish in this years WJC.

As for Ryder is there a chance that he will be playing in the NHL this season(assuming that there is one)?

That's one heck of a conspiricy theory. I guess that's why a guy like Patrice Bergeron has been kept from competing for his country by the Bruins?

Hockey Canada is based out of Father David Bauer Arena in NW Calgary. Typically they hold all their summer camps there, right from U-18 to World Championship teams.

Back in Summer `02 the U20 summer camp was held in Halifax.

Anyway, almost all analysts agree that the Canadian 87 crew is much better than the 86s. As for Russell, he's a great PP guy and plays well with Barker. With Rogers, Fistric and Stephenson you've got 3 very similar (big, stay-at-home, no offence) defencemen.

Have you seen Russell? He's a midget. No way he makes the team IMO, WAY too small. He'd have to be a powerplay specialist, I wouldn't trust him out there 5 on 5 or shorthanded.

He's listed at 20 lbs lighter than the next lightest defenseman and 2 inches shorter. And that's probably a very generous height/weight listing for him. He looks TINY out there. Imagine Mike Comrie on defense, or Cliff Ronning. Yikes.

Yeah I've seen Russell several times- including in the WHL vs Russia games as a 17yr old. Remember Ian White's contribution as a 7th DF for Canada a few years back? Similar story. Why do you think Sutter has invited him to camp? He's a seriously good role-player, that's why. Personally, I wouldn't feel too good about a trio of Fistric, Stephenson, Rogers- one (or maybe two) of them, ok, but...
