This list is pretty ridiculous from what I see. Wes Oniell and Setoguchi both belong there. Sutter said you need a big physical team to compete in this tournament, well if Setoguchi isnt physical I dont know who is, he finishes every single check... Mark my words, he'll make the team, one way or another. Hes too much of a Sutter type player to not make it.

I'm thinking the team will look like this:

Pouliot-Crosby-Brule
Bourret-McGrath-Latendresse
Chucko-Chipchura-Boyd
Wolski/Reddox-O'Marra-Bertram

Extra: Reddox/Wolski

Barker-Fistric
Parent-Rogers
Staal-Stephenson

Extra: Kohn

Dubnyk
Plante

I'd add Setoguchi and drop one of McGrath/Wolski. Little would be a good bet to replace one of these too. On DF I'd add both Mikkelson and Bourdon and drop two of Rogers/Stephenson/Fistric. I might add Russell here too. Price or Ellis in goal.

Well, here is the official roster below. A ton of 87's(in bold) on the backend. A bit of a surprise to see Pelletier as one of the goalies. Not too sure who guys like Vlasic or Kennedy are? Tom Pyatt over Daniel Ryder?

Ryder should be there over a few of those guys from the OHL. (I can't speak for the other leagues).

Highest scoring canadian born 87 in the OHL, voted 3rd best defencive player in his conference. He's a complete player.

I don't really expect him to make the team this year, but surely he deserves an invite over a couple of those guys. I do realize theres still a chance he could be there for the winter camp, but I don't understand what more he could have done.

Good call on Dan Ryder I didn't think of him, he deserves some consideration.

I don't remember where I saw it, but wasn't Dustin Boyd one of the last cuts from the last, most recent Team Canada? If so you'd think he will probably make it this time, especially with Sutter being the coach and all.

Pyatt did have a great under 18 tournament and I believe that is why he got an invitie to the summer camp.

What about Bolland??? And you know Crosby won't be there so why even bother putting him on there :help:

Boolay on the right wing? I don't know man. It really depends on whether Crosby accepts the invite to the team or not. If so, then I can see Brule going to the second line to balance out the scoring, inside of playing out of position and loading up the top line.

Why is everyone getting so bent out of shape over this list? Last time I checked it's only June and the team is picked in December. So much can and will change by then. It's funny how people fight about how this guy or that guy should or shouldn't be there when they will still have 3-4 months to play before a team is picked.

Is that so odd to see on these boards?

Yup Perry barley beat out Dustin Boyd. I think he will make the team, and be significant player. Hopefully he has another year like this breakout year this year. Damn Darryl Sutter rules.

I can see him and Chipchura making a very formidable checking unit, possibly with Chucko on the wing.

I dont get why you think a bunch of 87s would beat out a bunch of 86s. You have suggested that 6 87s will displace 6 85s in this claim... are you in love with the 05 draft? I think Sutter will stick with the older crowd and bigger crowd. Hes not going to drop Rogers Stephenson or Fistric for the much smaller Rusell, almost no chance. Like actually think about whos coaching this team for a second before you make suggestions like this, Little wouldnt offset Wolski or Mcgrath either. Mikkelson I think as well as possibly Bourdon are decent bets as 87s but I think the team will have alot of 86s.

Note my use of the personal pronoun "I'd" above- this is who I'd take. You, on the other hand, already think you know who Sutter will pick- even though the guys I've suggested adding have actually been invited (yes, by Sutter and crew) to the summer camp.

Anyway, almost all analysts agree that the Canadian 87 crew is much better than the 86s. As for Russell, he's a great PP guy and plays well with Barker. With Rogers, Fistric and Stephenson you've got 3 very similar (big, stay-at-home, no offence) defencemen.

Oh- I'd add the forgotten Bolland to that list of "should be's" too.

He didn't dominate that tourney by any means, but did play well. Unfortunately Ryder didn't have the chance to play in the U18 tourney in April as his Petes were still in the OHL playoffs. There is no doubt he would have been named if he was available.

Solid list, definetly won't be as good as last years team, especailly if Crosby is playing NHL, but should be a good team.
Was anyone expecting Yellowhorn to make the list? or would he mostly get a chance when he's 19.

Will not be as good without Crosby because A) He was the best player for Canada at the previous WJC B) He is the best junior aged player in the world?

Team Canada could have easily won without Crosby, too much stock is put on #87.

With a weighed draft Crosby has an a slim chance to be drafted by a Canadian team, a US team releasing a Canadian player so that he can play against the US junior team does not make sense.

Canada’s junior talent pool is not so shallow that one player can make or break them at the international level. If it is then dead-last is where Canada should finish in this years WJC.

As for Ryder is there a chance that he will be playing in the NHL this season(assuming that there is one)?

So your saying losing Crosby wouldn't be a big blow to the team? He certainetly wasn't the best player from last years team but he's definetly the best one still left thats eligable to play from that team and ya I think he's the best junior player in the world right now, easily. I'll agree with you that Canada has enough depth that we can definetly find another good player to fill the spot but Crosby just isn't a good player he's a phenom and IMO the difference bewtween having him on the team and not is a big one.
