Since taxi squads are a new concept (and probably a one-off situation) it would be interesting to hear the reasoning behind these moves.

Perhaps it is a simple matter of keeping prospect players active as well as giving them a chance to prove themselves when they do a shot in the Hawks line-up. Not to mention the difference in paycheques for guys who get called up.

I think it has to do with the road trip. When they are at home, they can easily recall players from Rockford but they'll be gone for quite a while and if there's injuries, suspensions, or COVID protocol they want certain guys on hand to slot in.
