Nylander is the biggest surprise for me, while Tjarnqvist over Jonsson is not far behind. Kenny is still his steady generally mistake free self. Nylander may not be able to play the wall like Henrik but he's still a better player than him.

Any reasons why they left off Nylander and Kenny Jonsson ???

Injury concerns, or did the players ask not to play ???

Both would certainly make Sweden a stronger team.

Well, Sweden > Canada ... except the goaltending, but the defense will make up for that.

Nylander,
Did not have a very good WC-tournament, well he was mediocre. If he had made the team he would have been the 3rd, 4th line center and I think they wanted to go with someone with better defensive skills for that role.

Jönsson,
Has a history of performing poorly with the national team, some rumours as well.. that he isn't on speaking terms with Sundin.

I'm happy with the lineup.

Including Bäckman, the Sedins, Marcus Nilson, Ekman, Påhlson... yes, its all good. This team can probably play quite physical.

+ some of the youngsters will play hard to prove they belong.

Why was Jörgen Jönsson over Michael Nylander, Nylander played great for that 2nd line for Sweden, creating a lot of goals out of Axelsson and Hoglund.

I'm not sure. I'd have Nylander over at least Andreas Johansson and Nils Ekman. Perhaps he is injured, or didn't want to play.

Hardy is a complete ****, how on earth can he pick Tjarnqvist instead of Havelid ??? Just cause he had Tjarnqvist in Djurgarden doesn't mean he have to pick him now :banghead:

and Jönsson instead of Nylander...otherwise a great team.

This is a nice team, really well-balanced.
You've got youth everywhere. that's good!

Good luck to the Swedes! :handclap:

Excellent lineup of course with superb forwards....it will be interesting how the line combinations are decided but having to deal with Forsberg, Naslund, Sundin, Alfredsson and others is going to be difficult for many teams. Even matchup wise, it will be difficult to shut down Forsberg and not open things up for Sundin. Depending on how the defence and goaltending stack up, Sweden is obviously a legitimate contender.

This could be one option :)

Näslund - Forsberg - Zetterberg
Alfredsson - Sundin - Modin
D Sedin - H Sedin - Johansson
Nilson - Jönsson - Axelsson
Extra: Holmström, Påhlsson, Ekman
