I am just waiting THE SUNDAY! THE FINNISH SUNDAY! We have to believe it!
I would stay up all night.007 said:The game is on at 8h in the morning over here.
How am I supposed to do this??? Stay up all night and fall asleep in a plate of eggs at 11h??? Or ruin my Saturday night by going to bed early???

Yeah, and Forsberg has already an Olympic gold while Selänne, Koivu and others have nothing.Jokeri said:Jag skulle sega en ting för dig svenska människör! du har fåt så manga bra olympisk system i torino så du kan stoppa det ny. SlavaKozlov said:Go Finland! I have watched their games when I could (mainly because my family is of Finnish descent) and I think they play good hockey. Some may call it boring, but if what teh Finns are doing is a trap, well then it is the fastest paced trap I have ever seen. They were aggressive backchecking and got in the passing lanes for takeaways. Also, don't the typical traping teams hurt themselves offensively by their style of play? They are definately using a hybrid system that the hard working nature of the Finnish players make work perfectly. Plus they are scoring in bunches while holding their opponents to nothing. I think it is impressive hockey, watching a team just controll the game as they have done this tournament. Best of luck to them! I am looking forward to this match up and have been hoping for it since the quarterfinals!
Hockey pretty much is the pinnacle of Nordic fighting, yes. As you may know, Sweden has had a long stint of peace since they lost Finland to Russia. They had to give up fighting after 1809, because they could not fight to the last Finn and win anymore. They had to project ther puny aggressiveness to somewhere else after that... So, hockey it is now...shrudy said:so is hockey the most intense embodiment of the sweden-finland rivalry? i know sweden has a decent football team but i'm not so sure about finland. since there seems to be so much clamour about this game i was just wondering if this was the pinnacle of the rivalry or if there are other intense forms it takes (both in and out of sports)

A little weird, yes. I'm hoping that Lundqvist will come back from the Olympics driven by the knowledge that he came close to winning gold.blacklabel said:I would stay up all night.
btw, it must be tough to cheer against Lundqvist and cheer for Niittymäki?
Yeah, no matter what will happen they both have had a great tournament.007 said:A little weird, yes. I'm hoping that Lundqvist will come back from the Olympics driven by the knowledge that he came close to winning gold.
As for Niittymäki, the way I see it, he's a great ex-TPS goalie. I forget what club he plays for now...
Actually, I should add to that comment: it's a little weird to root for the Flyers' goalie and against the Rangers' goalie, but it's not tough at all. When it comes to national competitions, I root for my country (countries!), and the clubs don't make a difference.blacklabel said:Yeah, no matter what will happen they both have had a great tournament.
Sorry, this is quite a ridicolous statement, really only to laugh at itYureeka47 said:Why are any of you expecting a good game? The finns will play the pathetic trap, and win. I dont understand why everyone is giving finland so much credit. ANY country can play the trap, but they choose not to, because its basically cheating.
