Btw, why in the **** would you go Zacha and Coleman? And how the hell do you not go with Zacha and Wood given how they have played together since Zacha got back into the lineup and were just missing connecting on goals tonight?

Coleman is generally the more responsible forward. Wood is more likely to make a mistake like that.

Hynes : "We're giving Cory the day off tomorrow. Kinkaid will play."

Scary part is that I can picture him saying this, too.
He better f***in not!

I don't care if Cory allows 5 or 6 goals tomorrow night, because from what we've seen this year, he's usually good for at least one fewer goal than Kinkaid is per game. And that's just on average. On a good night, he probably allows 2 fewer goals, maybe even 3 fewer goals. On a putrid night for him, he allows as many as Kinkaid allows on a normal night this year.

I don't like that we allowed 36 shots, but I mean, it's not like we allowed 50 like the last time we played here.

Yeah the last play sucked, but what exactly were our odds gonna be in the shootout anyway...10% maybe?

on a side note didnt travis play tonight? didnt see him.......
He was okay, but he was probably inching closer to what he's been for most of this year.

Had a few really strong games lately, that's the sad part.

What? Him trying to make a play in the ozone and then skating back into position or him helping his teammate when the puck became lose which was the right play? Third guy in should have covered the slot, end of story.
5 on 5 is one thing, but 3 0n 3 is about having plenty of ice and puck possession, he didn't have to try to make that risky play there

I'd bet Vatanen just had a brain fart and forgot it was 3-on-3 but yeah it's monumentally stupid to double-team someone in OT and doubly bad to not get the puck when you do.

He tried to make a play in the Ozone, it didn’t work out and he properly got back, then made the right play to go after the loose puck in the dzone, Coleman is the one at fault for leaving the slot open

that ozone play was horrible. no way its gonna pay off and led to everything else. so why even try it? i can think of a dozen things he couldve done he chose to try to blow through two guys. horrible decision imo. i get he had a good game but he also cost us the extra point. it happens. but dont make excuses for the guy. im sure he knows he messed up

Vatanen saw Zacha take his guy out of the play and thought he could pounce on a loose puck. That happens all over the ice. Devils want Vatanen to make the play he did. Everyone knows that, they're not content with sitting back and letting the game come to them.

That's why I put some of the blame on Zacha. He's got to allow Vatanen to be able to make that commitment. Colemans anticipating Vatanen's getting the puck and going up the ice already.

The play happened because Zacha didn't tie up his man. All the other decisions were made with that assumption. It's a split second decision that backfired and in 3-on-3 those decisions end up costing you. Zacha needs to be more alert and tuned in there.

Usually, I think we have a decent chance to win a shootout. With tonight's lineup? Maybe much less of a chance.

I keep forgetting that Stafford was our shootout specialist early on.

I can't think of who we'd use other than Stafford, Bratt and maybe Nico. Then if it continues, you start getting into Zajac (hasn't scored a shootout goal in literally almost 5 years) or rolling the dice of Noesen or something.

At least we couldn't use Henrique and his 2 for 17 career.

Tonight's lineup plus Price wasn't a high likelihood of success in the shootout. Although for all I know Price could be bad at the shootout too.

I'm always in the school of thought that if you get any points out of a game, it's a good thing.

Well if you get any points following a win it's good, if you get a loser point following a couple of losses it's a bit meh. That's why that whole 'wasn't pointless in two straight games (till recently)' didn't do much for me when they had an actual four-game losing streak, it's just two of them were OT/SO losses.

Yea, why go with the bigger faster guy that has a bit more offensive skill and has shown chemistry with Zacha?

Playing not to lose.

Lost in all the finger pointing is the fact that the Habs player made a nice play to get the puck to Plekanec. If Vatanen got to the puck first he and Coleman would have been going the other way.

To go further, that's also more of a terrific play on Hudon's fault more than a bad play on anyone that was on the ice.

Sometimes even if you do everything right, bad things happen.
