Said the posturing done by Goodenow/PA left no room for a deal to be done. Stern said he is absolutely positive that a deal would have been done if the players hadn't chose to do the extreme stance against the cap.

And likewise, if Bettman hadn't chose an extreme stance FOR a cap, it would've been a done deal long ago..

The ironic thing about Stern talking about the posturing that was done, is that he was posturing for his upcoming labor situation.

I guess Bettman wants a 30 team league and not a 22 team league.

And we would all suffer through this again in a few years when that CBA blew up.

is his stance so extreme?

the NHLPA ACCEPTED IT.

it just makes Goodenow foolish. And this all ties to Panger making comments about players and agents telling him that they were Sold up the river by Goodenow.

in the end, the entire stance by The NHL is meaningless, because the NHLPA accepted _EVERYTHING_ they offered. The NHL said they were paying to much, and gave numbers. The PA conceeded and came with a salary rollback. The NHL said they needed a cap, the PA came off and agreed to a cap.

What Negotiations did Goodenow do in this process? He just Ok'd everything the NHL Offered, he just figured his View would be accepted because of his great tactic of waiting till the last day.

How many more people are going to have to come out and say things before Goodenow realizes that yeah, he could've given a little more.

God Damn. Worst thing to ever happen to this sport.

(And I am not even Pro-Owner!)

An extreme stance for linkage, not for a cap. Different things

Stern will be going through this next season.

no he wont

nba players make money hand over fist. And the PA in the NBA may be the worst in All of sports. They are in no position to demand anything.

Russ Conway (from the Eagle Tribune) stated on Vancouver radio last week that he expected the NBA and it's PA to come to an agreement within a week of their All-Star game....

This years or next years?
