I didn't even bother looking at the OP. It probably has someting relating to DD vs Eller at some point there.

I'm not sure what this is supposed to show. Is Pac a chump because many of his goals come in losing efforts? or is he trying extra hard in difficult games?

shrug.

When Pacio gets no support (has to do all the scoring himself), we lose
When Pacio has support, we win

Nothing surprising really.

Desharnais getting points corresponds with the Habs losing at a rate higher than other players. Eller and Plex the opposite end of that spectrum, higher points produced corresponding with wins.

Well, Pacioretty has a ratio of 6.500 goal/assist which is just insane, considering he's 0.880 when winning games. Galchenyuk and Gallagher are offensive studs even when losing games as more than 30% of their goals come from lost games. In other words, these three are pretty consistent at scoring goals.

Plekanec is weird. One goal in 27 of these lost/OTL games.

I just took a quick look at the 2013-2014 season and Pacioretty had only THREE goals in 36 lost games, compared to 13 goals in 27 lost games so far this season. Edit : I'm dumb, I forgot that he played 72 games only, so the stat is a bit flawed. Nevertheless, it's still much lower than this season.

I'm not sure how to evaluate this data.

It can be seen in different ways.

For example, when the rest of the team fails to show up, X player does. That points in wins can be seen as stat padders more than value points in an effort to tie the game.

OR someone might argue something like this:

Desharnais getting points corresponds with the Habs losing at a rate higher than other players. Eller and Plex the opposite end of that spectrum, higher points produced corresponding with wins.

But I'm not sure that can be seen as conclusive either.

It's just a weird way to go about it IMO.

Points are points. I consider points when game is tied and/or behind to be the most valuable. Very clutch. I assume max leads in that as well.
