Executives from MSG and State political leaders from both Albany area and NYC recently met in Albany before end of session. More meetings scheduled for next legislative session. It's believed the parties involved are looking for the funding to bring the RANGERS AHL club to Albany, and back to Rangers country in New York. Makes all the sense in the world, the Devils in Ranger country made no sense.

NOT ONLY THAT but why is Albany considered Ranger territory, when in fact the same could be said for Hartford and Connecticut overall...

NS needs to do research again, because he doesn't realize it was the Islanders who ceded Albany to the Devils

The usage of "territory" in this context refers to the dominant fan base, not which AHL team owns the rights to the area or who was the first AHL team here or how the NHL TV rights for the area are divvied up or anything else.

In other words, most hockey fans in the Albany area with an NHL preference are Rangers fans. And they've been swearing up and down for years that all it'll take to get them to support the AHL in Albany is to make it a Rangers affiliate.
