They called up Carrick today
I never understood why the State Fair waited until October. It would seem to make more sense that last week of September, but maybe that's just the hockey fan in me.
It probably originated surrounding something to do with the yearly harvest. Then, tradition. And yes, early October's a pretty great month for weather.
My ex-wife hated me for it, too. Please get out of here with all of that logic....

Uhhh...the end of it, probably. Hard for those guys and girls on the farm to bring their wares to the State Fair for a week if they are still getting the crops out of the field.Something to do with the harvest... but what?
This actually got me interested in the history of the fair. It basically started in the 1850s as a get together for farmers to learn more efficient farming techniques and slowly grew from there.Something to do with the harvest... but what?

I should have guessed...you can never be too sure, though.I was being sarcastic
Even today, the fair is largely a way for farmers to both compete for superlatives and sell their best product. Can’t do that till you harvest it...
Just checked the Checkers schedule....hockey must just hate Carolina. Beginning on November 3, Charlotte goes on an 8 game in 15 days road trip. That's just ****ed up.
God bless those pagans.Probably has to do with worshipping the Pagan god of bountiful gourds.
I had no idea we had so many FFA members on this board. Still, the vast majority of the crops have been harvested well before mid September.
Yes, but that is not always the busiest portion of the fall season for some farms. My in-laws farm also gins the cotton for lots of farms in their area and they are probably busier after the cotton has been picked than before.
