He worked hard his first season. Steve Thomas had him working hard on that line. The Ducks cut Thomas and Oates lose, a lot of veteran leadership was lost.

He was NHL ready then he decided to get lazy. Just because he got lazy in the offseason does not mean he wasn't NHL ready during his rookie season.

The disagreement that we are having is more than just semantics. Many players CAN PLAY in the NHL but it doesn't mean that they are NHL READY. He's simply too immature, and not dedicated enough to ever have been considered NHL ready. As you pointed out, his game went to poop without veteran leadership, and not being able to where he wanted to. Make no mistake that says a lot about his maturity level; which is something that is necessary in order to truly be considered "NHL ready"

He WAS NHL ready in his first season. But due to not training or doing much in the off-season he then lost the NHL readyness that he had. He's now realised his mistake and has worked him self back to a level where he is NHL ready again.

Again. There's a big difference between being able to PLAY in the NHL, and being NHL READY.

You are right. BUT, he was NHL READY. If you had watched him play at all his rookie year, you would know that. He was always one of the best players on the ice, wasn't a slouch defensively, and actually played pretty physical --especially for his size--. Watching him his sophomore season looked like he just lost interest.

Ur still not getting it. What ur saying means he was able to PLAy in the NHL but his lack of work ethic and lazyness proves he was not NhL ready

You're not getting it. He had the work ethic in his first season. That's why he was good.

The team was one game away from being the best, and he though "that was easy" and stoped working. That was when he lost the NHL readyness that he had.
