who would you take, and why?

Seem to be somewhat similar players from what I've read on Stajan (have barely seen him play), but the reason I bring it up is because if I remember correctly the pick the Leafs would have traded to land Stoll from CAL (the botched fax machine incident) was the pick that was eventually used to select Stajan.

Or do I have that mistaken, it was TOR's 2nd that would have gone to CAL or Stoll's rights, yes, and not TOR's 1st?

Don't know the exact specifics, but I will say this: if the choice was between having 2 of Steen, Stoll, and Stajan, the Leafs made the correct picks.

Yep, I think it was the 2nd rounder, definitely not the 1st. There then was talk about the Leafs possibly picking Stoll in the first round, but I am pretty happy they opted to go for Steen :)

BTW, the Stoll deal wasn't the broken fax machine incident, that was the Jonas Hoglund for Kyle Wanvig deal with Boston the year before. The Stoll deal fell through because Calgary was very late to make him available, and once they got the deal in place not enough time was left to work out the contract and file all the paperwork.

yeah, I had thought something happened with the old fax machine this time around as well, but I guess not.

First of all, I like them both, and I like them both a fair bit. However, I do think that Stoll will eventually be the slightly better of the two simply because I think he's better defensively, and in the end, I'm confident they will end up at roughly the same offensive output.

That's just my take.
