SPHL Louisiana IceGators Suspend Ops for 2016-2017 Season

As the title says the Gators have folded according to the SPHL website and twitter.

Just to be clear, the team's not folding. Per their own press release, operations are only being suspended for the 2016-2017 season to accommodate renovations at the Cajundome. Emphasis mine:

Dumont also added, “Countless hours have been spent between myself, the owners, IceGators staff and Cajundome management looking at different scenarios on how we can make this season happen. At this time suspending operations for this season is the best route to take.â€

The SPHL has 10 teams right now, so the league will be alright. And I'm sure the team will be back in 2017.

Also, I think the renovations were made also with the Louisiana-Lafayette program also having to deal with some issues, though their basketball season wouldn't start until November.

ULL will be able to play at home in December and the tail end of November. They're part of the reason that the Gators couldn't find dates.
