after you post the link lets get off the Rielly topic, I think I started it. Don't want to derail a legit thread where Rielly doesn't belong

I think corsica doesn't include empty net goals, so that might be skewing it. But even if we include empy net goals:

Rielly: ES 345.733min, 10pts, 1.74p60 / PP 48.25min, 7pts, 8.71p60
Ghost: ES 280.833min, 6pts, 1.28p60 / PP 64.133min, 9pts, 8.42p60
Provo: ES 370.067min, 7pts, 1.14p60 / PP 37.45min, 1pts, 1.60p60

What strange criteria to determine the winner of a debate, especially when the topic is no longer even been discussed.

Slavin is the better defenseman until Provorov proves otherwise. It's similar logic to comparing Nylander / Marner to Gaudreau or Giroux.

You're right it's not that simple to determine the winner between 3 heavyweights.

You have the guy that made the "Jaccob Slavin is the best young defenseman in the league" thread and has championed Gaudreau to great heights comparing Monahan to a 3rd line passenger.

Then there's the biggest Flyers fan on the board masquerading as a Blackhawks fan even though his post ratio is 10000:1 Flyers. Not afraid to drop in and talk about Giroux like it's still 2012

Finally we have the self proclaimed advanced stats expert that can adjust #s to argue Zaitsev and Gardiner > your team's #1 dmen. Or Matthews could play Karlsson's position better because corsi + score adjusted toronto media pressure.

I'll be very surprised if somebody comes out on top

Slavin is a freaking stud. If this guy played on a contending team, he'd be recognized as such. And let's not forget he's only 23, he's not even in his prime yet.

You look at what Pietrangelo is now for the Blues, i have no problem seeing Slavin at similar level some time in the future.

Provorov is really good with fantastic potential, but for whatever reason i think he's not going to quite meet the extremely high expectations a lot of people have, maybe it's bias but yeah, we'll see.
Can you prove that statistically? I mean you mentioned players age, that is a good start.. Slavin is 23, Provorov is 20 years old. You mentioned Slavins age but neglect to mention Provorovs age.

Not exactly sure how Provorov is winning. Slavin is a legit shut-down guy in the mold of Vlasic whereas Provorv is likely topping out as a 2nd-pairing D-man.

He's already a 1st-pairing dman at age 20, so you win the prize for most ignorant comment in this thread.

it took me a while to go thru every post I've had and do the math, I was certain your # of 10,000:1 Flyers was incorrect so I went back and checked on every single post and discovered you indeed were incorrect.

8,817 post
3,217 Flyers
1,877 Hawks
3,713 Neutral

sooooo, its not 10,000:1, It's 9/25 Buster brown. Don't mess with a CPA when it comes to numbers.

He's already proven otherwise though.., He IS the better player now, even if you disagree its certainly debatable.

CF%: Slavin 52.51% vs. Provorov 49.47%
GF%: Slavin 48.15% vs. Provorov 41.67%
Expected GF%: Slavin 52.42% vs. Provorov 51.94%
PDO: Slavin 98.38% vs. Provorov 97.28%
% OFF ZS: Slavin 47.12% vs. Provorov 47.14%
TOI %: Slavin 38.56% vs. Provorov 37.77%

General Stats:

Blocked Shots: Slavin 47 vs. Provorov 55
Hits: Slavin 6 vs. Provorov 37
PIM: Slavin 0 vs. Provorov 6

Maybe you could explain why all the data points to Slavin being the better #1?

Both are great (quite similar outside of possession). As a Canes fan I'm fine believing that Provorov has ascended to Slavin's level. It's fine to say that one prefer's Provorov as he is 2.5 years younger. Slavin is in his 3rd year and Provorov is in his 2nd. However, to say that Provorov is the better player right now is a reach.
