if all the leaked info that is coming out and in the media is true, i see no reason why bettman should be fired. Goodenow on the other hand, well hopefully the players will be T.C.B after this is all over and done with.

Goodenow tols the players they were holding out on principle, then he caved on them at the last minute. Fire him. Bettman over-expanded the league and wants ever more controls for management. His side can't control their own spending, he demands restrictions for all teams to restrain the undisciplined few. Fire him too. Boot them both and bring in some real people who aren't arrogant, self-centered lawyers first and hockey caretakers a distant second.

Bettman deserves to stay. For the first six-eight years of his tenure he was continually railroaded by a few rogue owners, many of whom are long gone. Bettman made the correct political moves to get himself the clout to run the show and institute the solution he felt was best. This is finally Bettman's deal and he delivered what he promised. That gets you a contract extention, not a hangman's noose. If Bettman leaves it will be by his own decision and will include a massive golden parachute.

Bettman over-expanded the league

Actually the NHL owners expanded the league, they are the ones who voted on bringing those teams in. Bettman was in charge of finding the owners for those teams.

Why would Bettman get fired? and Yes..a season would of been lost no matter who was at the head of the NHL ....if Goodenow or whoever else on the other side didn't want to give a cap, how can you agree to a deal????

Bettman did a great job for the lockout and got what the owners wanted but he should be fired for the general state of hockey now and in the past 5 years.

Goodenow, as in the business world, his ass would be out on the street for getting forced into a worse deal than what they should have taken earlier. If he isn't fired within 6-12 months, there will be a mutiny within the NHLPA that will see him and his minions kicked to the curb. I bet that Eagleson looks pretty good in comparison with Goodenow to some players....

Goodenow has to go.

Bettman should be given a huge golden parachute and then fade into the sunset. He won the battle, but now the NHL needs someone to lead them back to prominance, and Bettman is not the best man for that job.

goodenow should be replaced by gartner and bettman should be replaced with lou lamarelo if they are serious about re-launching the sport! also remove the red line, reduce the size of goalie equipment, bite the bullett and expand the size of the ice and force the refs to enforce the rules. no new tight fitting uniforms are needed.

If you want Bettman to stay then fine, but his position needs to be changed from "NHL commissioner" to "Slimey lapdog of Jeremy Jacobs" then hire a new commissioner to be the new face of the sport to the media.
