Anaheim, California - The San Jose Sharks would like to announce the following trade: The Sharks have shipped Mike Ribiero and Scott Thornton to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Viktor Kozlov, Greg Johnson and a 5th round pick in the 07 NHL Entry Draft.

GM Astles had this to say regarding the trade, "This is not where we expected to be as a team at this point in the season. We are losing too many 1 goal games. We need to tighten up and start executing the game plan as given by the coach. We are playing as individuals not as a team." In Ribeiro the Sharks are giving up a young talent but they feel that Viktor Kozlov will be able to fill his void in rather easily and possibly help out the others that are struggling to get going. Greg Johnson will be really big help on the penalty kill with his high DF rating, some much needed help for Alyn McCauley and Peter Forsberg.

The Sharks will not have these players in the line-up tonight against the Ducks but are hoping to welcome them to the team in the game following that.

The Sharks are looking to beat the Ducks for the first time this season after going 0-4 in the previous 4 attempts. "These are the 1 goal divisional games that we cant keep losing. The Ducks are a good team but we are giving them too many lucky wins from mental breakdowns" said Forsberg in a pre-game interview. Huet will start tonight for the Sharks. The coach noted that he has liked the play of Huet but says he still needs to see more from the netminder.
