Good to know this is a scam. I've had two messages in my voicemail claiming to be from the CRA, and because I did have a tax return that was a bit different in 2016 than in previous years, I thought maybe this is legit. I guess I should call CRA myself (not using the numbers left in my voicemail!) and clarify the situation.

Do you have a CRA online account?? If yes, any issue they will direct it to that account ALWAYS. They will never call. If not, I'm pretty sure you get a letter. I have also got scammed from someone wanting banking information. I called them back and asked who they were looking for... Then the person asked what my name was!!! I'm like shouldn't you know that, you called me!!!

I like having that account because I know anything there isn't a scam. I pretty much never trust when someone calls me (except Amazon... They are the only place that legit calls me to pick up packages... Joys of no buzzer).

Meh, just finished the series earlier today, average imo.

Ortega is insanely annoying and a vapid character as well. Not to mention whoever she is is a terrible actress.

The intrigue was great imo.

I found Ortega pretty damn hot so maybe I didn’t notice that as much as you haha.

Just avoid the border towns, inner cities, towns, villages, highways, gas stations, and anywhere that isn't on the property of the hotel you are staying at. Oh, and avoid talking to the locals.

You'll be fine.

Thanks pal. Sucks because Playa del Carmen is really nice at night, 5th Avenue, and not a big fan of the shows at night on the resort. Anyways, my 14yr old daughter is petrified so we will watch the Michael Jackson show lol

I don't believe CRA will ever call you. They send out letters to inform you that you've been audited, or what not. I imagine that if you log onto your "myaccount" you'd have a message there if there was anything outstanding. I wouldn't even waste your time calling them, just delete any voicemails. It's worth noting CRA themed scams pop up ever year around this time (for obvious reasons). Last year I remember getting texts with miss-spelt links.

They actually did call me a few years back about when i was going to make my installment payments, sure got my attention!

I got a call in January, I mean literally less than 2 weeks after moving back to Canada after living abroad for 6.5 years, from "CRA" letting me know I had filed a fraudulent return for 2016.

I totally baited the guy. I asked what was wrong with the return, tried to take up as much of this guys's time as I could. Asked about specific parts of my claim that I was sure were fine. Started making up numbers just off the top of my head. He was dodging questions, but still carrying an accusational tone the whole time.

After about 15 minutes and realizing this guy was just about done (and me getting bored), I informed him that it was impossible that I had filed a fraudulent claim... since I had not filed with CRA at all, as I was not a resident of Canada for that year. I then went to hang up, but not before hearing a "you motherfu..." on the other end of the line before I could hit End Call.

Good times.

Yeah! I've heard that the popular scam right now is pre-recorded messages, right? I got the live version. Maybe there's a couple different IRA scams going around the block these days.

The iTunes card thing.... like, for real, is anyone going to fall for that? The sad thing is that it's clearly preying on the elderly and their technophobia/ignorance of technology. Nothing makes me more instsntly angry than scammers preying on the elderly.

Oh, she was hot, no question about that.

But I wasn't considering her looks in that critique

On an unrelated note to her character, but to the story in general, I found the idea that technology has progressed to allow everyones "soul" to be a computer chip, and bionic parts can be added to sleeves, etc. but that a master language hadn't been decided upon and unique spoken accents could still exist to be a strange oversight. Clearly the chip in our neck should override any speech impediments caused by language 0r the sleeve, and that only a single language would be necessary, or if there were still multiple languages, that each person could speak it impeccably.

Just drew me out of the story when 500 years in the future our ability to communicate hasn't evolved but literally everything else has. But I haven't read the source material, so maybe there is an explanation for that.

Game 1 of the finals for me tonight (only 3 teams, but who is counting...)

Kill it!

Hmm, I see what you mean, but weren't people able to understand every language? You had people speaking English, Spanish, German to each other and they were understanding, so there seemed to be a comprehension of every language, though there wasn't a universal language like you say. Pretty similar, no? In fact, it might be better because everyone wouldn't have to learn a new language. They understand all of them, and can just converse in their native tongue.

Speaking of communication, I finally saw Arrival yesterday and it was really good. Didn't like the ending so much (finished a bit abruptly imo), though it wasn't terrible, but as a whole very nice.

LOL, seriously? Time to look that stuff up

Yeah I did a quick Google search too. Forget where I read that lol.

It's cool when people can elevate themselves regardless of where they start though. Props to her.

And I'm all aboard the altered carbon band wagon. Good sci fi is so damned rare

I thought arrival was absolutely fantastic . Denis Villeneuve is turning into one of the most solid directors working today, and he does science fiction.

Awesome stuff. The new blade runner was phenominal too!

Altered Carbon is ****ing amazing.

One of the best shows I’ve seen in a while.

Saw a commercial for it and I was actually interested.

Considering I consider Breaking Bad complete garbage (it's all Cranston and he is great, no denying that) that is notable for me: most recent TV shows are formulaic as **** and suffer from unimaginative writing (it's all shock-value and nothing else) but this one actually might get me to give Netflix one more chance.

Amen brother. I think the videos are fake and just lookalikes fwiw, but there's no way of knowing for sure.

You should check it out! Just a note that BB isn't Netflix created though.

Arrival and midnight special. Two awesome scifi movies from dramatic directors branching out.

Announcement getting delayed till tomorrow probably but media has reported his win. Unbelievable how good the PCs are at throwing elections.

Ick....wish I had the mobility to move out of this crazy province. BC would be so amazing.
