Remember to vote based on all factors and not just NHL readiness. Overall skillset, hockey IQ, upside potential vs floor, age, stats, skating ability, array of shots, leadership qualities, size/strenght, etc

Personally, I always ask myself, who would I draft BPA among these players?

Try to do some research on these kids, particularly the most recent ones. People are free to post links and videos about some of the prospects that should be voted soon, or even try to persuade others why a guy should be voted next! Spread info to help people vote.

As we have been doing since 2004, we are going to use the HF criterias for prospect eligibility (less than 65 NHL games and under 25 y/o)

NHL Prospect Criteria - Hockey's Future

However, this year there will be 2 exceptions to AVOID massive turmoil. Like SensBrawler said to me "It's a weird situation due to the shortened season. In most years, they would have easily graduated."

So Tim Stutzle (53 GP) and Josh Norris (59 GP) are going to be considered graduated. The panel of Sens prospect polls experts think that the majority of people would still consider Brannstrom as a prospect, even though he has more games than them (63 GP), so he's going to be among options.

Order of the next prospects to be added :

Kevin Mandolese
Carson Latimer
Viktor Lodin
Maxence Guénette
Jonathan Aspirot
Parker Kelly
Cole Reinhardt
Mark Kastelic
Chandler Romeo
Jakov Novak
Jonny Tychonick
Eric Engstrand
Luke Loheit

I guess Thomson, but I dont see how this isnt Ostapchuk if Ottawa took him at 39 (even if they took Thomson higher)

I have no idea how Thomson gets ranked this high.

People have different opinions than you. Personally, I think it's a bit too early to write Thomson off completely as a player. He had a decent if inconsistent first year as a pro and I think he still has okay upside while also being closer to contributing in the NHL than anyone else left on the list.

I don't follow your logic. So we should take into account Ostapkchuk's draft position but not Thomson's? Can you clarify what you mean.

Yeah, that sounded stupid immediately. To me personally, I think Thomson's stunted his development in D+1 and has just started to put some progress back in his development under Mann, while Ostap is fresh and sounds like the more exciting prospect at the moment.

I still think Thomson is a long shot to make anything more than perhaps a bottom pairing role, but I really hope to be wrong.

I mean... He was a 19th OA pick just two years ago. I'm hardly a big supporter of his but it's a bit early to write him off, no?
Very true. And I'm guilty. But how many prospects have had crappy D+1s and come back strong for Ottawa?

Sorry guys I didn't make the choice for this tie-breaker... I had Ostapchuk and Crookshank ranked over Thomson and Merilainen

Those 2 had several more votes than the 3rd place so I guess they are in their "rightful spot"

Draft position.

Without speaking about this particular case with Thomson, it's weird but I somehow realized recently how much stock people put in draft position, even years after a draft! Crazy how much people evaluation are almost entirely based on stats + draft position

For me, draft position doesn't last very long
