Rabid-
Did you go to the SCSU games this weekend or watch them? I'm curious as to how AA looked...or if they were just a 1st half wonder taking advantage of that home ice advantage?

Watched the first game, SCSU played horrible for the first 30 minutes but pulled out a win. UAA is a big physical team with some skill but they don't have much in the way of depth. Only one line (Beagle Clark, Lunden) was able to sustain anything against us all weekend.
They are a contender for top 5, but I don't think they will get there.

Rabid:

So what the heck happened to the Huskies tonight (Friday)? The Mavs scoring....what was it? FIVE unanswered goals in the 3rd?! What's up with that?

BTW,if it makes you feel any better...Minnesota and Maine went down tonight too.

Stupid penalties, horrible defensive coverage. They didn't want it enough.
Hopefully this wakes them up and they start playing well again

From a 6-4 game to a scoreless tie.Figure that one out.

Both defenses and goalies were spectacular last night.
Mav fans saidf that's the best they've played in front of their own net all season. I'm not sure why, but something happens when we play Kato. We just stink against that team for some odd reason.

Dogs up next, hoping for another big weekend for Kronick against his old team :)

Sweep of the Dogs 5-0, 6-5.
Now alone in 2nd. But the hardest 10 game close in country starts this weekend at DU.

Roughly the same stretch to open the season (minus CC and UW) saw SCSU go 2-3-3. This team has grown up a lot since then. 5-5 is likely, but I could see a 6-4 finish, maybe 7-3 if they get lucky. Good thing for them, gets them battle tested for the postseason.

I set my expectations for this season reasonably... just a NCAA tournament appearance. If the Huskies finish out the season 5-5, that would put them at 21-9-4 and comfortably in the tournament. I'll only be dissappointed with a 3-7 or worse finish.

That being said, I love the fact that they're looking at a #1 seed right now. Hopefully they'll stay there, and they have an outside shot at the regular season trophy, and then there's always the conference tournament...

In short... I'm happy! :)

Yeah, there is very little we Husky fans have to complain about right now, and it feels good. :)

The stretch run begins tonight. 8 games to prove SCSU is an elite team this year.

Huge series with UW this weekend. I don't think the Huskies have won out in Madison since 2000 or 2001. A split is an absolute MUST this weekend for SCSU.
Likely will be two low scoring games, as both teams have excellent D and UW has serious problems scoring. They are the 2nd worst offense in the WCHA in conference games avg just 2.23 goals per game.

That is exactly why I picked both teams defenses in my fantasy league this week.

Yet another god damn loss in Wisconsin. I'm getting really tired of that.

Well one of the things that led to their demise tonight was taking way too many penalties, very uncharacteristic of this year's Huskies, who've been one of the least penalised teams in the country all season long. I saw the game and it was actually a good game. One interesting thing though, the Badgers PP has really struggled this year and they get two PPGs tonight, go figure.

Nate Dey's effort on the Huskies ony goal was awesome. IMO, one of the few moments in the game where Elliott showed that he was human.

Tomorrow night should see a better effort out of the Huskies, except I don't think the Badgers are going to quietly. They need points in the worst possible way (not that the Huskies don't), so they're going to give it all they've got, but the Huskies have to stop taking so many penalties and getting more traffic in front of Elliott would help too. In tonight's game, I felt that Elliott was being given too many opportunities to see the shots that were coming at him. If the Huskies can get more bodies in front of the Badgers net, they might be able to generate more goals or at the very least some quality scoring opportunities.
