Can anybody tell me how, on hockey-reference or some similar site, I might be able to determine the number of games played to a certain score, like 7-2 or 6 - 1, in a given NHL season, or over a range of seasons?
I have this all compiled if you still need it.Can anybody tell me how, on hockey-reference or some similar site, I might be able to determine the number of games played to a certain score, like 7-2 or 6 - 1, in a given NHL season, or over a range of seasons?

Ya of course. Only issue is that there are 95 different final scores and over 100 seasons so the chart is massive (have to scroll up and down in Excel to see everything).Thanks. I would like to take a peak, actually.
Awesome. If it aint too much problem, I'd like to see a heirarchy where the most common scores are at the top, and the least common at bottom. I'm not vg at Excel, but I can load it and find my way around. And thank you Hockey Stathead. I do appreciate the gesture.Ya of course. Any ideas on how to present it?

I'm coming up with 364,169 regular season goals scored in NHL history.Excellent. Thank you again. If it's not to much to ask, and available without hard number crunching, can you tell me the total number of goals listed here?
I guess this proves that Darryl Sutter was right when he said the NHL is a 3-2 league.Happy to help. This is regular season for every season from 1917-1918 to 2021-2022:

Thanks much, didn't mean to put you out. I'm especially interested in the 6-5 final score frequency. Seems like 349169/719 about one in every 500 games, historically.I'm coming up with 364,169 regular season goals scored in NHL history.
It's 366,403 including the shootout win as +1 goal for the winner and a couple 1-0 forfeits in early NHL.
There were 8 games in NHL history that ended 8-8. The year with the most such games? '88.
