Saw My First WHL Game Last Night

I've been a hockey fan since the 1968-69 season when I saw my first game on TV (I think it was Kings vs Red Wings). Anyway, living in the Los Angeles area, I have only followed the NHL all these years. Then, last night, I was bored, and caught a WHL contest (Lethbridge vs. Victoria). It was AMAZING! You could see the fans were really into it and having fun. The atmosphere is like family. I could see that this is what hockey is like when it is part of your culture. I admit to being a bit jealous. Just as incredible is the level of play by these kids--the speed, the skill, the conditioning. I swear, the excitement and skill level was at least the equal of the NHL 50 or 60 years ago.
That's one of the things I love about hockey. I feel zero sense of nostalgia when I watch it. This is the golden age.
Anyway, I've got one more item on my bucket list. I HAVE to get to Lethbridge and take in a Hurricanes game. Hopefully, a few more WHL games too.
