They have been in Jersey waiting for us since Tuesday
Since Wednesday, but still that's over 48 hours before the game started tonight. They were probably landing in Newark while we were landing in Ottawa. They usually stay in Manhattan when they have us, the Rangers and Islanders all on the same road trip, so they don't need to move from hotel to hotel. I'm not sure if most teams do that, when playing the Devils/Rangers/Islanders on the same trip. I know most teams fly into Newark, when facing the Rangers or Islanders, since they moved to Brooklyn, even when they don't face us. MSG/Lower Manhattan is probably closer to Newark than Laguardia, depending on traffic. It's absolutely closer to Newark than JFK.

The positives is the PK looked a lot bette tonight. In fact it was excellent.

We also were still creating some good chances despite not having our legs.

4th line still brings a lot of energy. I think we should be able to bounce back pretty quickly once we get back on the ice.

Ottawa is going to be tough. Guy knows what we can do and will be ready for us. Arizona could be a trap game, but we can’t let that happen. We need to murder them.

I’m about over Hayes. He doesn’t fit the way we want to play, and he is hogging a spot on the PP that a skill guy should have.

It seems like Hynes and the staff aren't necessarily the kind of coaches that will make a change mid-game, like taking Hayes off the PP. They'll let him play out the rest of the game, then make a change the next game. I don't see any reason Hayes should be on the PP, and I really don't even see the need for him in the lineup.

I don't think we need to waive him, but an extended stay in the scratch box might not be a bad idea. It's not like he's been better than Noesen.

This game stings less because of how the other metro teams are playing. Devils have beat good teams with 2 combacks eventually it was going to catch up to them. Plus, the Sharks have had our number since Pete Deboring became their coach.

They've had our number since quite a bit before Pete got there. They've had our number pretty much since the Pete era started in New Jersey.

We had beaten them only twice since February of 2011. Both times were in San Jose. We actually had back to back wins against them in San Jose, two years in a row. Once in the 14-15 season, under the Hydra staff, and then when Kinkaid shut them out in 2016, in Pete's first season there.

We were actually 0-3-1 against them while Pete was our head coach. We won the lone game we had against them, while Pete was in between coaching stints here and there, then we've went 1-3-1 against them since Pete has been there. We didn't have a single win over them in the 4 times we played them under Pete. When Pete first got here, we only played a couple Western Conference teams more than once per year, then we didn't play the West at all in the lockout year.

I remember getting murdered by them while John MacLean was the head coach and we played out there. I think Joe Thornton even had a hat trick that game. We probably only have 3 wins against them this decade, while Pete has only been there for just over 2 years now.

On another note apparently it was a microphone glitch that happened during the anthem and not the singer freezing up. I was wondering if that was the case cause it seemed so random that she'd stop halfway through unless she forgot a verse or the microphone suddenly went dead.

Definitely not a glitch, she forgot the words and tried to go back a bit and start again and got flustered. I felt bad for her but definitely wasn't a glitch with the mic.

Honestly, only time I remember beating the sharks an lemaries second half stint when McClain got fire. Zajac tied up the center kovalchuk swept in and fired one low glove side vs niemi. Was like our 12 win in a row

I figured they would have laid an egg today. Their schedule hasn’t been favorable and they have played some really good teams. Top that off with some gutsy wins the last couple days....can’t win em all just need to regroup and come back out next week

I was at that game, my last year living in Jersey still.

We also beat them with the Hydra staff in 14-15, right after Pete was fired. I think it was a fairly high scoring game from us. Maybe a 5-2 win? They played their backup at the time, who was Alex Stalock, and he was terrible for the last two years they had him. I remember Bernier either scoring or having a couple points that game.

We also beat them right after we acquired DSP in 2016. Jones was playing in that one. Kinkaid got a shutout and we were outshot like 30-15 or something like that. We won 2-0 or maybe 3-0 with an empty netter. I know DSP had one of the goals. Both those wins were in San Jose.

I remember commenting how it wasn't ironic at all that Pete's team outshot the hell out of a team, but still got shutout by their backup.

Well that Leo Scaglione quasi-beat guy said it was a glitch but if you guys saw her actually fumble the words then he was wrong.

Only got to see the first. Seems we've been the recipient of poor fortune with another couple of post shots, though I know San Jose got at least one in there as well.

We were due for a letdown game after clawing our way to a win on the road in a back-to-back, while also facing a team that had been waiting for us for at least 2 days. I'm glad to hear the PK played strong at the very least.

This week will do them good. 6-2 heading into this time off is great. Rest up, heal up and get back to kicking ass next weekend.

The scheduling was pretty dumb. Go from Ottawa to NJ on a back to back and then get a week off...And it seems like the week off this early won't have that much benefit.

Bad scheduling for sure, especially having to play back to back with travel vs a team that hadn't played since Tuesday.

These days will help, they have a lot to work on, especially in the d zone.

And we need Cory back.

Devils should treat this as Game 2 of a playoff series and analyze what went right and what went wrong during Game 1 for them.

Cory (lower body injury) and Kinky(got dinged on the wrist) would beg to differ here.

Sucks that they were clearly tired last night; doesn't excuse times when play got sloppy, but they were still creating chances for most of the game before it got clear that the collective tank was just about empty. Agreed that it's absurdly stupid scheduling on the NHL's part to do a back to back like that then have a random, non-bye week off.

Still, with Cory banged up and with a young roster I suppose the days off may not be the worst thing in the world, either, so here's hoping it's a chance to come out flying next week.

Oh no we suck again. This is going to be a very long week. Just realized it's back to backs bookending a week off, who the hell thought that was a good idea?

tcs1EOZ.gif

Seriously. I think some time off can help, but from a fans vewing standpoint, wth. How does the league schedule 4 games in 4 days with 6 non-bye off days in between them? I understand scheduling is tough with all the travel and arena schedules, but tell me how they couldnt figure out a way to spread out at least one of those games into those 6.
