:sharks
Jack Campbell
Cody Ceci
2024 3rd round pick
2025 4th round pick

:edmonton
Marc-Edouard Vlasic
Mackenzie Blackwood

The Sharks add a reliable defensemen and a few mid round draft picks, while all but guaranteeing last place in the NHL this season with Jack Campbell in the lineup. The Sharks also get rid of one the worst contracts in the NHL.

The Oilers add a veteran shut down defensemen (who we are assuming waives his NTC for a chance to win the cup) and a younger back up goalie who will likely be capable of starting more games than Pickard for the final few months of the regular season.

I doubt this is attractive for the Sharks. Whilst Vlasic is a horrible contract, he is at least able to play in the NHL right now plus they won't be good for at least 2 more years, by which time his contact will be up.

Edit - plus a buyout is pretty cheap for the Sharks in the summer if they so wish

Vlasic is replacement level, same as Campbell, only with a higher cap hit.

This is a huge waste for the Oilers.

Doesn't make sense for the Oilers. They need to shed salary.

And for the Sharks, they are in a position to take salary in exchange for picks and prospects.

These seems terrible/meh for both sides.

Vlasic contract runs out in 2.5 seasons, why would they then strap themselves with Campbell? Vlasic has a higher aav but you’ll need to attach more to take on Campbell/Ceci

Edmonton also found be aiming higher than Vlasic

San Jose
Make that 2025 4th round pick the 2024 2nd rounder (more of a fair return for Blackwood given how he's played this year behind a shit team and has another year left on his deal) and I'd probably do it
