Of course Irish Blues may have been too modest to point out that the primary source for the telus.net site is IB's own site and spreadsheets:

    http://www.geocities.com/rmccleary97/

By far the best and most complete salary cap resource out there.

BTW - I noticed this on THN's website today:

    http://www.forecaster.ca/hockeynews/hockey/_7irw6govkze9/extras.cgi?sal-east

    http://www.forecaster.ca/hockeynews/hockey/_7irw6govkze9/extras.cgi?sal-west

While it's a nice start to providing this information, please note that THN is NOT giving cap numbers - they're only providing salaries. Furthermore, their list is not entirely accurate (see among others: Andrew Ference (CGY), Steve Staios (EDM), Ethan Moreau (EDM), Dan Cloutier (LA) ) and they don't clearly illustrate who is (and who isn't) on a 2-way contract.

So if you're going to use it (and I'm sure some of you will), be warned - for cap purposes, it's as reliable as what you'll find at TSN or the NHLPA web site (both of which also provide only salary info and don't provide cap numbers).

And why would anyone use these other sites if they were after cap figures? Clearly IB's is the best and most complete resource. I'm just impressed that you could put it together in your spare time.

You'd be surprised how many people think the numbers at TSN and the NHLPA sites are the cap numbers and will proudly trot them out when making trade proposals to show that their idea will work capwise.

I don't know why, but as of 11/28/2006 the league maintains it's $7,415.1 thousand. If the league says that's what his cap number is, who am I to question it? :D

    In case anyone is interested:

I just pushed an update this morning. I got a file dated 2/6 and have made adjustments accordingly - in addition, I now have the amount of potential performance bonuses (by year) for those players who have them. I do not know what triggers the bonuses (except in maybe a couple of cases at best), so don't ask - your guess is still as good as mine there.

So for the 12 or so of you out there who want to know about this kind of stuff, :thumbu: - for anyone else, there's nothing to see here ... move along. :D
