At BU right now he is logging lots of icetime. We currently haev been playing 3 freshmen defensemen every night so they are leaning very hard on Whitney and Brian Miller our only to junior d men.

He is getting lots of time in all 3 situations, well over 20 minutes a night id say.

I noticed he only has 3 assists this year, but is leading the team in +/- at +7. The next highest on the team is +3.

Sarge, what's the deal with his lack of production? Unless there is no deal and he's just not getting the bounces.

The entire BU team has had a problem with production so far. There have only been 3 good offensive games. 5 goals vs RPI, 6 vs Providence, and 6 last night vs Merrimack. Other then that there have been 2 vs Vermont, 2 vs Merrimack, 0 vs UNH, and 1 vs Maine.

The biggest part of the problem is the terrible powerplay. Before last night the team just couldnt score on the pp to save their lives. Also part of it is all the defensemen have been more concerned with their own end given the inexperience right now.

Last night Whitney was impressive. He played with an edge that normally isnt there. He was taking the body, and giving punishment in front of the net. If he can keep that up it will be great to see. His offensive game is there. He has been skating the puck well, has a rocket of a shot when he gets it off. He still makes some bad passes, but it is definately improving. Thus far he hasnt regained his form from the 2nd half of last year, but has been much more effective in his own end.

I watched some of the BU/Merrimack game, and thought Whitney was impressive. He made some good plays on a 5-3 PP, I think he hit the post, but overall seemed to be one of the better players in the game for sure. Although Merrimack was brutal.
