Ryan Mior of the P.E.I. Rocket got the defensive player of the week award today in the Q. Who is gonna make a bold move and draft him late in the draft. Everyone knows he has the skill and I know many still feel stupid from leaving Ellis go to the canucks so late.

I will likely be talking with Mior tomorrow night so HF will get the opportunity to hear what he thinks of his possible future and the draft.

I get to see him play all the time and I'm not too impressed with Ryan.He has
some athletic skill but I'm not so sure he has the right mental attitude.

As far as player of the week he's had a few good games but really the one I
saw he was pretty lucky plus his defense played great.Sure there were a
fair number of shots on goal but alot were fanned and also weak shots from the perimeter. If you want to look at a rising prospect from the Rocket look no
further than Marc-Andre Gragnani. This kid is still upping his game and he's
starting to get a little more physical, which has been his main weakness.
Mind you lack of physicality for a defenseman is a pretty serious weakness
but alot of it comes from lack of size and strength. He's been growing alot in height
in the last year but needs to put some muscle on those bones. If he does,
watch out this kid is REALLY talented.

    Back to Ryan-
Goalies are a funny lot though, and Ryan did show alot of promise as a 16 year
old. He's had a pretty shaky season but if he can come through when it counts
and help the Rocket secure a playoff spot it will help his chances.

No one is going to draft him earlier than the 8th round....he's not that good.

With all due respect, because you may be right, saying something that definite about any draft is sort of silly.

Everybody said no way Blake Wheeler gets taken in the top 20 either.

And usually the first round of the draft is far more predictable than anything that happens on Day 2.

I agree Matt, especially with Goalies ,you never know what the scouts and
    Gm's are thinking.
Matt what do you think of Grags?

  8. Love the glove.

Other than that he didn't impress me at the wildcats game he *really* needs to work on the five hole i was sitting 5 rows up and could see the back of the net through his legs!!!
