Strange numbers. 11 of 17 goals are on the powerplay. Shooting percentage over 30% (17-53).

He still has 14 goals ES which is good for 2nd on the team, so he's been productive ES as well.

There is more.

+/- is a deceptive stat but -15 as leading goalscorer is by far the worst on the team with exception of one player.

Thats not just bad luck.

34 out of 35 players who played for the Checkers this season, have done better.

This is no coincidence and probably one of the reasons he played 2 NHL games this season.

I knew you'd say +/- ;)

Last season, he was a +6 while scoring only 12 ES goals. There were other forwards ( Tolchinsky for example was a -10) were a minus. Yet Tolchinsky is a +2 this year. Year before that, Zykov was a +3. Without watching him play, I cannot agree with an assessment that "He's not good 5v5" just based on +/- for 1 season, particularly when he was a + player his prior two seasons.

Maybe he won't be very good 5v5, but basing it off of 1 season of +/- isn't a good measure of it.
