This guy didn't have a thread yet and he's trending well so I figured he might be worth one. Nurmi is having an extremely good rookie year in Liiga at age 19, started as a 4th liner but as the season progressed, he's been moved up to play in the middle six lines. Also had a strong WJC with team Finland in a 4th line defensive grinder role. Nurmi is a very smart two-way forward with terrific work ethic, a coach's dream role player. Has shown flashes of offensive talent but I don't think he has the puck skills to be a consistently effective offensive player when he becomes a pro. Good size, still a bit lanky but has become a lot stronger and can compete well against grown up men in board battles and is tough to knock off the puck. All in all, I think there is definitely some bottom six NHL upside in this guy.

Having a bit of a bounce back year so far after slumping badly last year. Points in four straight games now. His stock has fallen quite a bit though since where it was when I made this thread.

Was never signed by Ottawa so is now an unrestricted free agent in terms of his NHL rights.

Six goals in 12 games to start the year for TPS but at his size there must be other areas of his game that are deficient or someone would have signed him.

Title changed. He had a massive down year two years ago which probably scared off the Sens even though he did bounce back last year. Skating has been a hindrance for him, and his skillset isn't necessarily anything exceptional. I can still see him possibly getting a shot in a NHL organization though.

A bump.

Any NHL upside?

still young, 22 years old, huge dude 6 foot 5 / 210 lbs

8 points in 9 games so far in his AHL rookie season.

Steady goal, point production from 2020 -> in the Sm-Liiga

20-21 : 18+18=36 (0.80 ppg) / 2+6=6 (0.50 ppg)
21-22 : 20+19=39 (0.72 ppg) / 4+15=19 (1.10 ppg)

I believe he's 24, but the general consensus seems to be that he's doing well enough so far, not just in the AHL but also in the camps and pre-season, that his upside is acknowledged. But Nashville has a crowd of half a dozen players in Milwaukee atm who are probably worth an NHL look, and some are ahead of him. So in a numbers game where spots/opportunities are rare, he may miss out? :dunno:
