Even if the Oilers don't win the lottery- which, to be honest, is about all they're good at winning- Svechnikov would be a helluva of a consolation prize. That combination of size, skill and shot next to McDavid would be incredible.

sounds familiar lol

It sure does, but one has to admit he is closer to a Laine-level prospect than Puljujarvi ever was.

Hell, this would also be a good thing for Pool Party, in that the pressure of having to play with McD would be off and he could instead draw in next to Draisaitl regularly. That's been a respectable combination the few times it's been tried, but alas Todd McLellan would rather play young, budding prospect Mike Cammalleri in the top six instead...

Kids with bad English (I don't think Svechnikov is an adept speaker, unlike Draisaitl who was fluent by draft day). Don't seem to fair well in Edmonton. For whatever reason, Yakupov and Puljujarvi have had hurdles. Although, I'm mostly joking by this comment.

He’s going to be a good player. Has the size, skill, speed and goal scoring knack. Sure, he has things to work on but it’s his first year in the CHL and he’s ripping it on a fairly young team. IMO he does too many things well to bust and I’d be willing to bet he has a 30 goal NHL season in the next 3 years.

They used to say McDavid + Hall = No Chances for Other Teams. And then those two started to play together, and it was an epic failure.

Chemistry is a strange thing, but when you put good players with other good players they genuinely play better most of the time.

The best use of McDavid and the way to make him valuable is to have him carry two average linemates like Crosby tends to do, then give the elite wingers to Draisaitl and RNH, so you should have 3 really strong lines.

If Svechnikov gets to play with McDavid, he’s got Calder locked up regardless of Dahlin’s season

Some 26 year old will come out of nowhere and win it because Svechnikov missed 1 game.

Svechnikov strikes me as a guy with little need for line mates. I don’t mean that it a bad way. Only that he created his own offense for himself. A bit like Semin did in his Caps days.

Scored 2+1, +3 in 6-5 defeat. 37+27 after 40 games.

Thomas is considered a good prospect. And Svechnikov has 7 less points in 6 less games and 14 more goals.
