A guy like Tucker Poolman got 4 x 2.5, so I can see Rutta getting in that range. Probably not 4 years since he's 3 years older than Poolman was. So at best 3 x 3 from a team desperate for RD. Rutta is a good player for us but I doubt he is highly regarded across the league, not big, physical, offensive or really any standout quality and will need a good partner to shine. At his age I can see him taking 2 years at the highest AAV he can get, which for 2 years should be around 3.

He seems well liked and is a nice compliment to Hedman. Quiet, decent enough #6 d-man. Maybe on another team he'd get to show a little bit more, so it wouldn't shock me if he gets someone to bite and pay him a healthy amount.

In a vacuum, I'm fine with 1.5-ish, maybe even 2 at the VERY most but it doesnt seem like we can justify that when there are players just as good or better who can replace him at half the cost.

Nothing against the guy at all, but I hope he wins one more cup with us and moves on. If he stays I won't be mad though.

Hope he stays for a couple more years at 1.5. He's nothing amazing but he's smart and solid positionally. Makes some good plays being in the right place.

We need as much value as we can get on every contract.

Unless he wants to come back at substantially lower than market value (someone will offer at least 3x$3m) I think he is gone. Maybe why Hedman-Sergachev have played so much the last few games, and Rutta has been a third pair giraffe handler.
