Why are they playing Ovechkin with Chubarov and Afinogenov? Think they should have a good center for Ovechkin for example Yashin or Datsyuk. I only like the line Samsonov - Kozlov - Kovalev. I´d rather see

Samsonov-Yashin-Kovalev
Kovalchuk-Kozlov-Kvasha
Ovechkin-Datsyuk-Frolov/Zherdev
Zubrus-Chubarov-Kovalenko/Frolov

yeah, im kinda curious as to why yashin is down on the 4th line...seems like a bit of a waste of his talents down there, especially when the team has already lost a couple important skill players up front

Here are the lines that skated at Russia's first practice, yesterday in Kloten, Switzerland :

Kovalchuk - Datsyuk - Zubrus
Samsonov - Kozlov - Kovalev
Ovechkin - Chubarov - Afinogenov
Kvasha - Yashin - Petrov
Afanasenkov

Frolov took part in the practice only partially because he arrived early in the morning.
Kovalenko hasn't arrived yet.

Any info on the defense pairings? Thanks!

Here is the full lineup from the 1st 2 days of training camp.
The team split into 4 teams of 5 or 6 players, competing against each other.

The best unit proved to be Samsonov, Kozlov and Kovalev, followed by Yashin's line.

SAMSONOV – V. KOZLOV – KOVALEV
KVASHA – YASHIN – OVECHKIN, PETROV
KOVALCHUK – DATSYUK – ZUBRUS, KOVALENKO
FROLOV – CHUBAROV – AFINOGENOV, AFANASENKOV

KASPARAITIS – GONCHAR
TVERDOVSKY – VISHNEVSKI
KHAVANOV – VOLCHENKOV
MARKOV – KALININ

scary how much of a hockey dork i've become... these lines are almost identical to the ones i set up on PS2 (having guessed the Ovechkin line is highly peculiar...they were basically my 'young Dynamo line'.. :)
and i had Kovalev/Zubrus flip flopped..

So Datsyuk/Kovalchuk didn´t work that well? It would be a waste not to get the best out of them, maybe they will find eachother eventually, though I didn´t think they played very well toghter in the World Championchip (at least compared to what you would expekt)

FROLOV – CHUBAROV – AFINOGENOV

That line looks pretty good. I'm curious to see how Chubarov plays when reunited with Afinogenov.
