Ehhh that second period was rough. Really liked how we clamped down in the third though.

I was nervous all period but they did a very good job overall. I'm impressed how good a lot of our forwards are defensively. Lots of blocked shots late, including another dandy from Noesen.

Vatanen should get the jacket. Over 23 minutes in his first game with no practice? That's very impressive.

Vatanen plays with so much poise. Very steady player. He had an excellent clear along the wall with under two minutes to go that negated any threat. Was nice to see the team not get trapped in the d-zone for the entire end of the game.

Here's what Vatanen was just referring to. Ugly uniforms though, must be designed by Adidas. :sarcasm:

I didn’t see the question either. He’s the first player I thought of though. You know you’re getting old when you start getting a lot of these right lol.
Between me talking about earlier, how my friend and I did each other's homework in the subjects we struggled in, that the other didn't, it really brings me back to some of those times. I remember watching games with some of these players being on the Devils at that time, and I'd have to nag her to do the homework for me on Devils game night's, while I'd take the night off of doing her essays and history homework on Devils game night's.

Good times!

Now I feel like one of those people on those commercials that MSG is doing hahahahaha.

Agreed. He was abysmal offensively though. But that's okay, I'm fine with that so long as he plays defense well.

if we see him play great offense
and we see him play great defense

and we know he's young
and we know he has great mentors

why are some of us so hard on him?

I sometimes text with my friend during Devils games, and we've both been reminding each other of our last win in Denver and are going back and forth. ''Do you remember where you were the last time the Devils won here?'' He replied that he was still dating a girl that he had split with at the end of 2008 and I was like ''God, it's been that long?''.

I kept joking that it was January 3rd of 1996, when Marty had a 1-0 shutout, after Steve Thomas scored the game winner with about a minute left in regulation. I was at that game. I go to Denver every year, but haven't caught a game since they've been in Pepsi Center, but I always go in August.

I believe Rod Pelley scored a goal off the post in that game. I also remember the camera cutting to a Devils fan at some point who couldn't have been more awkward. Thumbs up but get the camera out of my face please

Meh, the only one with any credibility in those commercials is the long haired dude with the old white mesh jersey.

Did Pelley score that game? I should remember this, because Pelley BARELY ever scored, since he was one of the worst players to ever dress for us for more than a cup of coffee.

If I'm not mistaken, this was a game that Steve called, back when Steve was only the play by play guy for games the that Doc was unavailable for and in the Deb role for the rest of the games. Steve kept saying the ''Lanche'' and it was really nauseating.

My friend that I spoke of (with a MUCH better memory than even myself) said this was an afternoon game on a weekend, because his then-girlfriend came over to his place, and she'd always stay on weekend's (while complaining about how much he watched hockey) because they both had off and she lived all the way up in Sussex County or maybe West Milford, while he was down in Bergen County.

Boyle was out there to win a faceoff in the last minute of a game. There is NOTHING wrong with that since we dont have much other then Zajac that can seem to win faceoffs. Tonight we did ok in the dot but im not sending out Nico to win that against the Aves be faceoff guy.

Ive decided that no matter who our couch is we will never agree with their player deploy in certain situations. But honestly 99 times out of 100 ill choose the guy that is an NHL head coach over everyone of us including myself.

There is a lot wrong with it. I'd rather have guys that lose face offs more than they win them that can skate and pressure the shooters over someone that gets there last second as the shot is already off and going by Schneider and tying the game up. It's annoying to see the team constantly stuck in their own end and unable to get an empty netter to end any hope of tying it up.

I think the young woman who just had the baby and talks about how baby's reaction to winning the lottery, is one of the more authentic ones. She doesn't seem like she's forcing anything there or trying to act. It seems like her time is also shorter than some of the other people's spots, so this might also help.

I have singled out the long haired guy as liking more than most of the other's, up until when he says ''Anything to show passionate of a Devils fan I am'' or whatever it is that he says at the end. It seems like he's trying to lay it on thick, but I don't hold it against him. He isn't an actor.

The only thing I ever remember Rod Pelley for is when the NHL advertised HIM on the NHL website during the playoffs. Remember that, Bleed?

This is literally why Boyle is here. To win faceoffs in those situations, which he did effectively.

Compare it to how many other times over the past month he has been used yet we still blew the lead.

Though who they have on the defensive side of things doesn't help it much, especially when it's Greene and Santini or Greene and Lovejoy.

Yes Pelley did score. Theodore was in net and he let in an absolute stinker on Madden which broke the game open

Unfortunately, I do, but it's very vague.

Rod was VERY bad. He was my personal punching bag (Fraser too) back when we had a perennially competitive team. I wasn't a Colin White or Pandolfo fan either, at least not from 08-11.

The best thing DeBoer did upon arrival was say ''Hey! Scrubs! I'm talking you, Pelley and Fraser! Up to the press box you go! I don't know what Lemaire was seeing in you or even Sutter, but you guys suck and you won't be in my lineup every night like you were for them!'.
