This could be a problem if they don't let him play now. Will someone else snag him?I guess he needs a new contract for next year now. UFA on 7/1.

Come on dude.......
The Flyers didn't give up on him, and have followed all the protocols to get him here. He's not going to shit on them and sour NHL relations. I have no doubt he will give them at least a full year.
I don't think it works like the this. The toll only lasted for 2023-24, it looks like. UFA on July 1, 2024.Is it worth it to play him this year and burn his contract rather than toll it and get the full season
What a bonkers turn of events, for the system to suddenly gain access to two well-regarded goalie prospects. One right after the other. Feels strangely positive.
You beat me to it by mere seconds. This certainly explains Brieres decision not to get Raanta off waivers now.
I get that a lot....You beat me to it by mere seconds.
Quick, give up on Michov.I will say, I did give up on Fedotov coming here, but man, I'm glad to be wrong.
Think he still has a shot at the Calder? Comes in, pitches 7 straight shutouts on his way to leading us to the cup.Get his name right, its Ivan "Conn Smythe" Fedotov

Raanta cleared waivers on the day CSKA was eliminated from the KHL playoffs, so it's technically possible the Flyers passed on Raanta expecting to be able to bring Fedotov over, but the timing seems too close for them to be able to guarantee they'd have cover for Ersson in Fedotov.Do you think they had some idea he was coming over which is why they passed on Raanta?

There was a contract in place to allow him to leave once they were eliminated. Maybe the Visa stuff has taken longer than they envisaged?Raanta cleared waivers on the day CSKA was eliminated from the KHL playoffs, so it's technically possible the Flyers passed on Raanta expecting to be able to bring Fedotov over, but the timing seems too close for them to be able to guarantee they'd have cover for Ersson in Fedotov.
The day CSKA was eliminated was also the trade deadline day (March 8th).
They absolutely still should have made a goalie move before the deadline.
The timing speaks more to not really knowing when CSKA was going to finish their season. The KHL playoffs are still ongoing. There was a contract in place to allow him to leave once they were eliminated. Maybe the Visa stuff has taken longer than they envisaged?
