What are Flyers fans' expectations for him and Kolosov? Looked over his stats in KHL and he's not at the sub-2.00 GAA territory of Sorokin or Shesterkin, but could either of them be the Flyers' #1, or form a tandem with Ersson with Hart out?

Came here wondering the same thing.

At 27 has he shown pretty much what kind of goalie he will be? Does Kolosov have more upside?

I think goalies are almost impossible to predict on how they would do in the NHL, if either can be a more consistent Carter Hart then it's a win...it might even be a win if they can make a routine save as a backup for Philly if Ersson continues to improve.

Is it worth it to play him this year and burn his contract rather than toll it and get the full season

I don't think it works like the this. The toll only lasted for 2023-24, it looks like. UFA on July 1, 2024.

Ivan Fedotov Contract, Cap Hit, Salary and Stats - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

"He has signed 1 contract worth a total value of $1,100,000. He will be a UFA at the end of the 2023-24 season when he is 27 years old.

CONTRACT NOTE: This contract was originally 1 year in length; however, the 2022-23 season was tolled on June 14, 2023 to 2023-24. The expiry status changed from 10.2(c) to UFA due to being 27 years of age at expiry."

Flyers' team list says UFA. This might not be accurate, we'll see what Briere says about his extension!

Philadelphia Flyers Salary Cap, Draft Picks, and Player Contracts - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

If Fedotov doesn't join the team (including AHL assignment) this season the Flyers can request his contract be tolled again till 2024-25.

The question would be whether the Flyers have the option to say "it's too late for Fedotov to report this year" then toll the contract this summer? The PA would grieve it, but my guess is the league's position would be Yes, the Flyers can refuse to allow Fedotov to join the team this season and toll the contract another year. The principle being the Flyers signed Fedotov to a one season contract. They're not obligated to allow Fedotov to fulfill the full one year of the contract by reporting to the NHL when only a handful of games remain in the season.

Ant says there's still a lot that has to happen before this can happen, to the point that he's eschewing whether or not this is actual news. Says we need to wait a few days. 'Nothing to report from a Flyers perspective.' But believes that Athletic reporting is accurate.

Federov was also just fired after winning the league championship 2 out of the last 3 years....imagine if joined the Philly staff with all these Russians (Redwings v2.0)...now that would be wild. :sarcasm:
Hell, I'd sign Federov to play center for the rest of the season. Even at the age of 54, he'd probably play better than Cates or Laughton at the position.

How do visas work for Russians entering the US right now?

Obviously there are no direct flights either, so he would have to travel out to Qatar/Saudi/???

Actual news as to whether he's coming over or not?

It’s like a nothing has happened until it happens thing, but clearly they’re working toward it.

But people who think he’s getting his visa tomorrow and jumping on the soonest flight to join the team are getting ahead of themselves.
