Wonder if the Rangers would move down from 21 if there's no one there they love?.. maybe get an additional 2nd or 3rd rd pick that we don't have.

Reposting from end of last thread because it's my pipe dream as of the Oshie signing news. Nash to Chicago for Anisimov.

They should do this regardless IMO. Lot of decent dmen they can try to nab in the 2nd or 3rd

I feel like that was a "get Saad back at all costs" trade and not a "move panarin" trade

If I'm the Rangers I'm shopping Nash to Chicago. He's morphed into a two way player similar to Hossa in the last few years. Bring Arty back!
even eating half, rental Nash for short term AA at decent # + okay term would be shrewd

You can't just go full blown fire sale and trade your captain. You need some balance between building and veteran leadership. That and McDonagh is worth more than that IMO. Top 15D in the league, and now we finally can see him without an anchor tied around him.
No.
Your point is CONDITIONALLY valid, but those conditions do not apply now.
WE DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH HORSES, IN QUANTITY OR QUALITY TO WIN

other considerations must bend buckle and break here
leadership is nice, but if we field a subpar team, it is irrelevant.
The more we are subpar, the more this is so, and vice versa.

With some luck, we can narrow that gap, quickly, however.

chicago wouldn't trade anisimov for a winger
Normally I agree w/you on this pt.
But they need a replacement they can afford for Hossa --- check
and also
longer term cap flexibility -- check

FWIW, I concur on your point otherwise, and since they went down the road of giving those guys 10m+ as necessary to keep them, then they should have traded Crawford instead of Darling, etc.

BBTAIM
but be that as it may....

Moving back and recouping picks would be great but I'm curious how people would feel about Yamamoto at 21?
