Finland have a more competetive team than Sweden, that's for sure. A lot of NHLers, that also participated in the World Cup.

Sweden's team consist of a lot of hard-working forwards, but aside of Nordgren and Weinhandl there are no pure scorers which will be a problem for the team. Usually Sweden test out a lot of youngsters in this tournament, but not this time. Should be interesting to see Christian Berglund, Björn Melin and Lars Jonsson, however.

I can't believe they will kick Russia's ass even without NHL players!

Oh, I meant the roster is without players that participated in the World Cup. There are some NHLers on the swedish roster, even if not the best.

Defensemen: Henrik Tallinder, Buffalo; Christian Bäckman, St Louis; Andreas Lilja, Nashville

Forwards: Christian Berglund, Florida

Mattias Weinhandl, NY Islanders, is injuried and is replaced by Mikael Samuelsson, last year in Florida.
Per Hållberg is also injuried and will be replaced by Calgary prospect Jonas Frögren.

With Weinhandl out, Sweden just have ONE pure goalscorer on the team in Niklas Nordgren :shakehead

I just watched the 2nd and 3rd periods of Russia vs. Finland, and I gotta say 2 things :

- the Russians gave the impression that they were playing with each other for the first time

- individually the Russians have so much more talent on their team, that I'm surprised the game ended only 2-1 and not 5-1.

The top line of Kovalchuk - Datsyuk - Kovalev obviously dominated the game, but Semin and Fedor Fedorov played great too.

Yeah, it wasn't a very good game by us. Maybe they'll rebound just like at the Karjala Cup? Nummelin will be out for the tournament with a hand (?) injury so that will limit our offense even more. Did you also notice the insane amount of clutching and grabbing (by both sides) the ref allowed in the game?

Yeah I thought that the game was ugly overall ... both teams couldn't really move around the offensive zone and build up any combinations.
