It's amazing we have two non-hockey based leaders at the table(actually not at the table) in Goodenever and Bettman. Then we have some people speaking up (Pronger, Ference, the Atlanta owner(his name?), Orr, Gretz, etc) who are hockey people but in reality with no power, or at least down the chain when it comes to the other two mentioned. Be nice to have two hockey-oriented "leaders" with a goal to have hockey played ASAP then have business-type people, outside of hockey, to help us steer us/them in the correct direction.

What are you talking about? Bob Goodenow played NCAA and minor-pro hockey. Don't believe me? Look it up. :shakehead

Bob Goodenow is a visionary administrator and preemininently qualified hockey man who, no doubt, one day shall be enshrined as a Builder of the Sport. To categorically dismiss his accomplishments is both foolhardy and spiteful.

And one day you will be remembered as a man with many accomplishments and friends. Your comments will seem witty instead of inflammatory, and fresh instead of tired and boring. People will realize that being an adult who lives with his parents and trolls on a message board where people who actually like hockey post is really really cool. :p:

How do you always get the 2nd post whenever anybody comments on anything.

And you always manage to get down on your knees and kiss Goodenow's butt... I don't get it.

Seriously, I think its one giant act at trolling, at least I hope so, since its embarrassing for the boards, since he's somehow worthy of a moderator title.

Dont really care if he played NCAA and minor-pro, he never earned an NHL paycheck like some of these cry babies are whining about, at least not playing hockey. Steve Belkin bought a franchise in a sport he enjoys watching, yes he IS a fan AND an owner-most are. I would like to see someone who has made and NHL salary by today's standard in there.

Well, we'll just have to disagree then. Now that you've narrowed down the negotiators on both sides to just ex-NHL players that leaves out a lot of capable people. There's too much money at stake to leave it all up to fan-friendly names like you suggest.

Bobby Orr the player agent vs. Wayne Gretzky the owner? I suppose that's not too far-fetched, but neither person appears to have expressed an interest in getting into the trenches. Thery would certainly need full supporting casts of specialists at any rate.

I think the dance card is already set, though.

Bobby Orr and Wayne Gretzky would have very knowledgeable discussions on a players value, once the marketplace has been established. But establishing it is something betrter to left to knowledgeable people better able to see the bigger long term picture.

The dance card does seem set. All we need to do now is push them out together onto the dance floor.

I know what you mean... I've never seen a poster on here gush and idolize a person as much as Bicycle Repairman does with Goodenough... It gets disgusting at times... I keep expecting him to break into something like this:
"All Hail Goodenough! Supreme Ruler of the Universe! He's the smartest man on earth... He's the most wise man ever... He's a supreme tactician... He's my God, my Lord and my Saviour... And he's soooo sexy..."

Ugghhh!!! :amazed:

Yes, much better is:

All hail Goodenow! Singular desire to bring down the NHL. He knows what he is proposing will ruin the league, but that is what the players want. He's the stupidest deity in the heavens.. Worst negotiator ever. None of his tactics work. He's the devil, the anti-christ, evil incarnate. And he's soo greedy. The only reason we are in this situation is because he wont get unlocked out.

Ya, there are stupid people who say that as well. They are just as assinine as the aforementioned poster.

At least some people on here can see both sides, even though they agree with one side over the other. I think most people here can tell which people are objective, which people are uninformed ignorant kids and which people are obviously baiting other people in a sad attempt at attention.
