Might be just me but winning 30 out of 58 games being a new record is pretty sad.
The bar certainly isn't too high, but it's not like they've had bad coaches. Since the Canes cup win, below is their record at this point in the season. A lot of bad - mediocre teams, but most of those were coached by:
1) Peter Laviolette - took two other teams to the SC finals and currently coaches the 8th best team in the league.
2) Bill Peters - Currently coaching the 2nd best team in the NHL
3) Paul Maurice - Currently coaching the 4th best team in the NHL.
All of those coaches had trouble getting it done (outside of the cup year for Lavi which had an insanely talented forward group) but found great success when they went elsewhere. Given that the Canes centers are Aho, Wallmark, Martinook, and McKegg, that they have at least 4-5 AHLrs in the line-up, they have one of the youngest teams in the NHL, and their two goalies are guys found on the trash heap, I think it's remarkable what Brindy has done so far.
