Might be just me but winning 30 out of 58 games being a new record is pretty sad.

Don't expect him to have a HOF coaching career, but still think he should be in as a player. Consistency should count for something.

Truly a murderer's row of great coaches though, amirite

The best coach in our history wore out his welcome after 2 1/2 seasons and the second best coach in our history is freaking Paul Maurice. Kind of sad when you think about it
Before Maurice, you're talking about Paul Holmgren who didn't even get to 30 wins in year 1, and Pierre McGuire who didn't get to 30 wins at all.

I wouldn’t say his career was all that consistent

Yes, we're aware of that, it's kinda the point of the whole thread

I do think he's a good coach though. Still learning to manage the game but he knows how to motivate and he knows what it takes to win as a player so those guys will listen to him. He's got a ton of street cred.

The bar certainly isn't too high, but it's not like they've had bad coaches. Since the Canes cup win, below is their record at this point in the season. A lot of bad - mediocre teams, but most of those were coached by:
1) Peter Laviolette - took two other teams to the SC finals and currently coaches the 8th best team in the league.
2) Bill Peters - Currently coaching the 2nd best team in the NHL
3) Paul Maurice - Currently coaching the 4th best team in the NHL.

All of those coaches had trouble getting it done (outside of the cup year for Lavi which had an insanely talented forward group) but found great success when they went elsewhere. Given that the Canes centers are Aho, Wallmark, Martinook, and McKegg, that they have at least 4-5 AHLrs in the line-up, they have one of the youngest teams in the NHL, and their two goalies are guys found on the trash heap, I think it's remarkable what Brindy has done so far.

Yeah, I've actually been quite impressed this season. His coaching style seems to be a bit more refreshing than I would have expected. The corsi always was amazing and now the results are starting to catch up, too. Especially lately Canes look very entertaining and are a joy to watch, perhaps that's also partially due to the addition of Niederreiter who's looking like a great fit.

Also, usually I look at the avatar or the location but luckily I can recognize Canes fans by the amount of likes they have.

What's the reason canes fans always like posts? Never understood that at all. I mean I don't have a problem with getting internet points, but I'm curious.
When the board changed over and likes were a thing, we all decided to get enough likes to have all Canes fans on the leaderboard. Then we all changed our avatars to a letter which spelled out “Buffalo Sabres Suck” on the leaderboard. That’s the crux of it. Just harmless fun,

Was the previous record set without the aid of shootouts?

Counting shootout wins with the rest has distorted the hell out of a lot of "fastest to [x] number of wins" statistics with goalies, coaches, and teams in general alike.
