Seems very serious.

Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter is under investigation by the NBA following multiple instances of betting irregularities over the past several months, multiple sources told ESPN on Monday.

At issue are prop bets involving Porter from games on Jan. 26 and March 20, multiple sources told ESPN. The NBA did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

In the game on Jan. 26 against the LA Clippers, there was increased betting interest on the under for Porter props, which for the night were set at around 5.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists. There was also an over/under for Porter's made 3-pointers, which was 0.5.

Silver may be able to impose full ban on player
As it should be. Last thing the NBA or any other pro league needs is to hand out a slap on the wrist only to see more players try figure out a way to mess around with the system

Yeah, as much as I think it's hypocritical to be so in bed with sports betting groups, there's really no two ways around this. The NBA basically had no choice but to Pete Rose him given that, short of outright throwing games, this is the exact last thing that can be tolerable in pro sports by anyone involved in the game.
