I really like good skater players and I would like to know more about other teams prospects skating ability. It would be nice to have some insight but just a ranking could be fine.
so rank your team's prospects skating:
For the Montreal Canadiens I would rank them like this:

    1. Mikhail Grabovski : Lightning fast and agile. He's a very smooth skater and have the top gear. He could become one of the premium skater in the NHL.

2/3.(tie) David Fisher : Very good skater for a defenseman and even more impressive when you notice he's a good 6'4''

Ryan O'byrne : As good of a skater as Fisher and bigger/stronger.

    4. Ben Maxwell: Good skater overall but he doesn't have the top gear of grabovski.

    5. Matt D'agostini: Very good skater with smooth stride and agility on ice. He should look more than fine when he hit the NHL.

    6. Maxim Lapierre: He's not a pretty skater but he his surprisingly very fast. He seems a little weak when he skate but he's considered a very good skater in the NHL.

    7. Juraj Mikus Good all-around skater a little bit like Maxwell and D'agostini but he doesnt have top gear like Grabovski or great 1st step like Maxwell and D'agostini. He should be fine in the NHL tough. But if he could improve it a little bit he could become very dangerous.¸

    8. Alexei Emelin: Like most eastern european player his skating abiltity is very good and deserves some mention. Again he's not a Niedermayer but I think he could develop into another Markov if he works a little bit on his first steps.

    9. Andrei Kostitsyn: He's not a speedster but overall a pretty damn fine skater that combine stenght, agility and acceleration. Well above-average for the NHL.

    10. Sergei Kostisyn: He has enough wheel for the big league but he's no speed demon. A little bit like his brother except he doesnt look as strong on his skate.

thats becuase it isnt easy to have the precise order that the prospects should be in terms of strong skating.

    I just ask opinion..
of course you have to at least have seen the players play but im not asking for an exhaustive list with pictures, diagram and physical laws.
Like I said you could just rank the players without any description !

Rangers prospects I would consider "plus" skaters:

    1. Marc Staal
    2. Bobby Sanguinetti
    3. Lauri Korpikoski

most of the rest I would say are average to above average, but those are the standouts to me.

  6. 1. Michael Grabner. Quoted by people that seen him play. Scouting report sais "hes one of the fastest in the leauge." by fans that seen him play, "fastest skater in the Dub" moves amazingly fast with the puck.

    2. Mayson Raymond. Again... extremely fast. One of the fastest players in the WCHA.

    3. Jannik Hansen. his all around game over shadowed his speed. I didnt consider him a speedster. When he made his NHL debut in the playoffs, his speed was just amazing and caught all Canuck fans by surprise. None of his knew he was that fast. One of the fastest Canucks during the playoffs.

    4. Luc Bourdon. He moved and skated like a pro during the 2005 trainning camp. moved and skated like a NHLer.

    5. Sergei Shirokov. Good skater, highly skilled, I dont think as fast as any of the guys in front of him.

    6. Simek. Simek is a sniper, but his skating is average, and I dont think hes fast at all.

    7. Kirol Koltsov is an awesome skater that can move at a very high speed and control the puck like its on a string.

lets hope some of these prospects mature soon, we can really use their speed since we are currently one of the slowest team in the nhl.

Koltsov and Shirokov - top-ranked skaters in RSL, and that says much. Especially Koltsov whose able compete with Niedermayer in skating.

Ranked in order of skating ability for size/position, not who would win a race. With quotes from their HF profile. For the Oil:

    1. Andrew Cogiano (C)- "world class speed".

    2. Jeff Petry (D)- "excellent skater, with good mobility"

    3. Taylor Chorney (D)- "terrific skater"

    4. Robert Nilsson (W)- "great skating technique"

    5. Tom Gilbert (D)

    6. Alexander Bumagin (F)

    7. Denis Grebeshkov (D)

    8. Ryan O'Marra (F)

    9. Rob Schremp (F)

I don't think O'Byrne is as good a skater as Fischer. O'B is a good skater, but Fischer has a very fluid stride.

I find it difficult to rank players skating while they play in different leagues and countries without seeing them all on the same ice.

If I had to take a shot I'd say,

    Skating
    Grabovski
    Maxwell
    Fischer
    D'Agostini
    S.Kostitsyn
    Lapierre
    Francis Lemieux
    Michael Lambert
    Ryan O'Byrne
    Andrei Kostitsyn
    Juraj Mikus
    Emelin
    Paquet

    Speed
    Grabovski

    Lapierre
    Maxwell
    D'Agostini
    Mikus
    Lemieux
    S.Kostitsyn
    Lambert
    Fischer
    O'Byrne

    Oilers... :teach:

For the Islanders, Tambellini must be 1st on everyone list, no?
"is known most for his skating ability and scoring touch. Considered one of the best, if not the best, skaters in the entire draft(2003 draft for sure)."

I was being sarcastic. I was just pointing out how many former Isles prospects are on that list.
