Best would be for sure the Hawks/Kings/Pens for their multiple cups alone.

Worst? The Coyotes, despite having a few playoff seasons they continue to sit in the gutter.

I'm sure if they iced a GOOD team for multiple years they would grow the fanbase, but the inconsistency and lack of superstar players is a disaster waiting to happen.

Hawks/Pens
Kings
Wings/Bruins
Ducks

After that its harder, maybe some mix of conference finalists or Cup finalists with Hurricanes.

So the Oilers making it to the finals the year after the lockout doesn't count?

Cluster one

1. Pens #1 most finals apperances put them slightly ahead of Hawks

2. Hawks

3. Kings (two cups, but several weak seasons)

Cluster two
4. Detroit while same amount of cups and finals as Bruins, they were better for longer

5. Bruins

6. Anaheim. Cup, perenierally good

Cluster Three
San Jose and Caps: never had a cup but was always a contender for a decade. To me that’s more impressive than the Canes win.

Cluster four
Tampa, Nashville, NYR, Blues, Philly and Canes soley due to having a cup.

Winnipeg/Atlanta has made the playoffs twice (tied for fewest with Tor, Edm, Fla, Car) and hasn't won a single playoff game. Ever.

They are definitley dead last.

Canucks fan here..Good list but San Jose is definitely ahead of us. 3 more conference finals than us I believe, President's Trophy and another 1st in the west, plus they never fell off the cliff like we did :(. I could also see the Rangers ahead of Canucks but it seems pretty even on first glance.

As a Leafs fan, I think the Yotes, Atlanta, Edmonton and Toronto are all bottom tier.

In terms of being insanely frustrating, Edmonton for being so garbage so many times, Atlanta was bad, but didn't have the resources and neither did the Yotes.

I always ranked the Leafs at or near the bottom due to them having more resources than the Oil, but the Leafs were never the dumpster fire that the Oilers were, most years, they just missed the playoffs and never tanked it up like Oil nation.

How are the Caps above the Rangers when the Caps have never been beyond the second round and have been to the playoffs fewer times than the Rangers. Off the top of my head the Caps missed the playoffs in 06, 07, and 14. The Rangers only in 10. The Rangers are tied for most playoff appearances since the lockout, I believe. The Rangers have been beyond the second round 3 times (in 4 years in fact), including a final appearance.
