C Adam Tambellini won round 17. D Tarmo Reunanen is added to the poll.

RULES CHANGE:

Since HF no longer functions beyond the forum, no reason to have their old rules. We do, however, need the same rules for everyone or else the rankings mean nothing.

SKATER PROSPECT: A player 24 or younger with 50 or fewer NHL games. Therefore, Adam Clendening has now graduated with 60 NHL games under his belt and the full season on the NHL roster.

GOALIE PROSPECT: A player 25 or younger with 25 or fewer NHL games.

EXCEPTION 1: If a player completed the required 50/25 games, but is still not regarded as an NHL regular because he's shuffling between the NHL and the AHL, he could still be a prospect as long as he's 24 or younger and if agreed upon by most people here.

EXCEPTION 2: A player who is no older than 25 years old at the time of the vote and is a borderline NHLer could still count if agreed upon by most people here. Hrivik falls under this exception.

Fontaine.

Gilmour is an undersized defenseman who has not scored much even in the AHL, so not seeing an NHL future for him. Fontaine is actually outscoring Morrison and given his size advantage, that matters. There's a big difference between 1) average skill and good size vs 2) average skill and small size. Tarmo is an average defenseman in a semi-pro league, so not sure there's a future for him. Fogarty is an AHL 4th liner and about to turn 24. Halverson sucks in the AHL, though did well in the ECHL and still is young. Either way, in comparison to all of these, easily Fontaine.

Add Skapski.

Fontaine, good skater, good size, good hands, solid defensively and a reputation as a leader, i really like him as a prospect.

Add Ronning, very good skater, excellent on the forecheck and has a good release.

Gilmour add Skapski.
Want to give Gilmour a shot, since he has played spirited/well in the past at training camps.

Fogarty has eight points in fifteen games since the end of December, so he's started to contribute offensively. He also draws tough match ups in Hartford and is one of the very few players there that excels defensively. Other than Hrivik who scores a lot, he's the only forward on Hartford that's a plus player. He's a big kid who works hard, is smart, skates well enough for the NHL and has decent hands.

The ceiling is low with Fogarty, but I think the floor is very high. I think he could push for a fourth-line spot as early as next year (depending, of course, on who we add/let go/etc.). I like Fontaine, but I think he profiles much the same as Fogarty.
