They freed up 2.3 million dollars for next year.
That's a FA signing on it's own. I'm not 100% sure Calgary's going to dip into the FA pool.

As posted in the other threads, ecstatic that Murphy is being bought out.

Torn on Bouma. Glad to see some space up front cleared up but at the same time, sending him down the AHL might have been better.

Murphy's buyout is tiny as he's under the age of 25; it's one/third instead of two/thirds over twice the years.

As per capfriendly, penalties of $100K in 17/18 and $137,500 in 18/19. Basically it's irrelevant.

Why not? The extra 1.5ish million in space can go toward a decent bottom six player rather than a replacement level 4th line player.
