Indeed, mainly due to severe mismanagement.... ah the memories....Taken it in the teeth long enough.
Harold Ballard... Kurvers for a first-rounder who turned into Niedermayer trade... Fletcher made things much better for a couple of glorious seasons, then back to mediocrity, then the Pat Quinn era which was fun but we all knew we were never in that top tier group (Detroit, NJ, etc)... then the drop off again in the grossly mismanaged JFJ era, then in comes loud mouth Burke, who decides to mortgage the future for Kessel, and adds to the miscast with Phaneuf... then more pain... and then we win the draft lottery, and here we are.
